I'm not an expert in law, but Ian Watkins would likely be entitled to royalties from any covers of his songs. He does have a songwriters credit on "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)".

I wish I lived in an alternate timeline where the singer wasn’t a messed up person so I can like this song all I want. This is the kind of song I would immediately add to my Apple Music library, but now I have to buy it on Apple Music, and I don’t really feel like throwing money at people like the singer.

I'm surprised Rock Band didn't remove this song after Ian was convicted. Guess that wouldn't be fair to the rest of the band

It was an on-disc song from Lego Rock Band, so it was naturally part of the export since the game released in November 2009. Ian Watkins wasn't charged until December 2012. It's probably the only song from Lego Rock Band which we have no chance of ever getting as a rewind.
