You're not allowed to ID or harass or request information of any passenger subject to a traffic stop involving the police officer in the driver and that has been rolling by the Supreme Court and holds up in all 50 states

@@jessecombs5373 technically, if you're in a vehicle, you are subject to identification, especially during a traffic stop. This is a necessary safety measure that is employed by literally all officers in America to identify potential outstanding warrants as well as dangerous persons.

@@KR1SPY54 even in the most technical of circumstances, (and even this is shakey) a PASSENGER might not have to provide identification depending on if the Cop(s) have reasonable suspicion for that individual and decide to ask for it. This depends on state laws and also has seen some discourse within the supreme court, but has yet to be decided upon as far as I know

@eldritchassistant1067 Passengers are generally required to provide ID during a traffic stop if the police have reasonable suspicion of criminal activity or if state law mandates it. Even in states where it’s not explicitly required, cooperating by providing ID is often the best approach to avoid escalating the situation. While laws vary, complying with an officer’s request is usually the safest and most practical choice.

@eldritchassistant1067 however, you are 100% when you say that a passenger might not have to provide identification. It is very circumstantial depending on the traffic stop. For example, if it is for something as simple as a busted headlight, the officer might not even ask for a passengers identification, but if the vehicle was all over the road and behaving erratically identification would most certainly be asked for. Unfortunately, there isn't a substantial supreme Court ruling that has addressed this manner so :/
