Fresh out of truckin school and recently obtained my Florida issued CDL...I applied for a reefer position at Knight Transportation in Lakeland, Florida. This was orientation and how it went for me....

Its definitely not a regular 9-5 job...I think if you have the right trainer (watch my other video about training experience) then you should be alright. Knight is a good beginner company especially because of the amount of terminals and decent pay as you get the needed experience.

So you have to pay for your own hotel and travel?

Not from my experience. Recruiter will set you up with hotel and ask how you will get there. I chose to drive my own car.

You seem like a cool dude. We did similar as I also paid 5k out of pocket. Some advice, I've heard bad things about Knight as far as pay, but any company is good for experience. Don't let any company's location deter you. I'm from NC and I use to work for Schneider. They have terminals all over NC, including my home terminal which was in Charlotte, NC. Corporate office was in Green Bay, but I've never been there. Don't get hung up on Corporate office locations, these mega carriers have Terminals and Yards all over the country.

Actually my experience with Knight was I didn't make money with them and ended up going broke so I quit months ago. Glad you're having a better experience tho

Florida CDL handbook (general knowledge, combinations. and airbrakes)....I studied all month November 2021: passed permit test December 2021...went to trucking school January 2022 then passed and got my CDL in febuary 2022

Tbh, I don't know, I got my CDL through a college and paid out of pocket. That would be a question to ask the recruiter.

Yep but you can choose when you want to take it (from my experience). I'd take it right away so you don't forget thing's youve learned. After you pass it...youre assigned a truck, choose when you want to run and given your 1st load assignment

San Diego Ca Here!!! I start my trucking journey with Swift in a couple weeks. Looking forward to seeing the states. I thought of a cool app for truckers weeks ago. An app that shows the best eateries on trucking routes and have a place where truckers can rate them. Rate the food, ease of getting to and parking and deals. How's Swift bro ? I'm thinking of getting into trucking because I've been doing pizza delivery for a year and wsnt to keep driving. Anyways. How'd you get your CDL ? I see that some companies be offering schooling and I don't know whether to pay outta pocket or sign a contract.

@@Memmitov12 best advice is pay out of pocket, get a loan or see if you qualify for a grant through your state...the issue with getting a CDL through a trucking company is you basically become an indentured servant of that particular company and the way trucking is, most people tend to regret that choice. Getting your CDL on your own means freedom to pick where/how you want to work

Dang, supa-trucka slow down and at least tie your shoelaces...this is an old video from last year so don't trip. My Native American ancestors and forefathers roamed mountains long ago and ate the hearts of suckas for a snack so I aint tripping 😎
