This song has the best Intro to a song and Outro to a song I've ever heard
@lesliebeacom45674 жыл бұрын
I think they named the guitar intro to Layla as the best, as well as the most recognized ever.
@daftbeeswax44392 жыл бұрын
As I recall, the intro riff was a kind of second thought by Duane. He played it for the rest of the band and they loved it. Or, that's how I remember reading about it years ago. I first heard it when I was in high school in late 1970 or early '71 when it was playing on the radio. I said to my buddy..."What...was THAT!!!" To this day, after hearing it thousands of times on vinyl, 8 tracks, cassets,CDs and youtube for over 50 years, the intro STILL makes me jump as if I'm startled. And the coda at the end still makes my eyes misty...After all these years. That's what I call a masterpiece.

@johndemeritt34604 жыл бұрын
@@thehouseofcm, I agree that rock and roll has provided some of the best music of the 20th and early 21st century, though I'm more of a Moody Blues/Jethro Tull/Yes/Allman Brothers Band/Heart kinda guy. And, of course Pink Floyd, The Who and Derek and the Dominos. It's all good, even if we have our favorites. But some of the leads that have come up in my KZbin feed have taken me to more jazz and blues, like Oscar Peterson and T Bone Walker. Getting to those roots made me appreciate how rock artists have taken those influences and created something truly magical -- like Jimi Hendrix with so many of his pieces.

I heard EC do this live on July 5 1973 in Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburg. I was in the lower deck and they were throwing major fireworks left over from July 4 out on top of us from the upper deck so I had to put my head under the seat to avoid it being blown up. Eric was totally subdued and burnt out, not himself at all imho. With all the substance abuse end alcohol who knows but it have for an Erie subdued electric version. The Band and Todd Rundgren so a very good nite.

Have You Ever Loved A Woman, Tell The Truth и конечно Layla, возможно самой известной песне Клэптона...

The unrequited love of George Harrison's wife Patti caused EC a lot of pain. That she wouldn't leave her husband basically caused Eric to turn to heroin. Good thing he had some good friends that pulled him out of his funk. When they finally came to visit him months later he was so withdrawn he didn't even realize it was recieving heavy airplay.. During the recording of the album, EC came into the studio to find Bobby Whitlock working on his solo album on Eric's dime. He wasn't really mad, when he heard that piano part he told him if he could use it, then he didn't care if he continued on his solo project. Jim Gordon, the drummer, in a psychotic episode murdered his mother years later. Still in a phyc unit.
@lizetteolsen32184 жыл бұрын
Not fully accurate, as I understood the storyline. EC lived with them b/c George was terrified that his friend was going to die from his addiction. Boyd remained in the house; George ran about doing his thing--and also cheated on her. When the marriage ended, she and EC moved forward and remained together UNTIL--he had a child with another woman outside their relationship. He wanted Boyd to parent the child with him--but she (who could not have children) felt so humiliated and lower than dirt, she elected to leave. At least that is her memory.

The way I heard it is that Jim Gordon came up with the coda, "borrowing" it from his girlfriend at the time - Rita Coolidge. She never got the credit for it. "But years later, it was revealed that Gordon had stolen the melody of the “Layla” coda from his ex-girlfriend, singer Rita Coolidge."
