What?! The high heel didn't go in? And "it made a lot of women happy"? I'll tell you what made a lot of women happy: epidural! I haven't met a single lady who doesn't find high heels flipping impractical and bloody hurt, yet every one of us is somehow expected to conform and wear a big smile about it. Orthopaedics all say it's unhealthy and injury-prone. It's essentially social-imposed voluntary self-deformation. A hundred years ago young girls in China had to crumple/cripple their feet (by their parents) to make it small only because that was one of the prerequisites for getting a husband when they came of age; regrettably, I don't see how things have evolved in essence.
@Nisah982 жыл бұрын
Oh, please. Then why do you still wear them?? Is it part of the dress code of every workplace when you can just wear closed flat shoes? Are women being forced to high heels or do they just want to wear what's trendy? Its not so much society's expectations but your own insecurities to succumb to what out of touch fashion dudes deem what's hot and not.

I was confused about why they kept talking about personalized license plates as if they are some fancy expensive thing because in Canada they are a flat one-time fee of $100 for anything you want (and the provincial populations are pretty low so whatever you want is probably available). So I googled "personalized license plates in the UK" and good grief! The population is so high that all the good ones are taken and they sell them to each other at auctions for thousands or even hundreds of thousands of pounds! It is a whole other thing there!

As a person currently on crutches, I agree that other people walking deserves to be in room 101. People cutting in front of me or stopping in my way is annoying. People bumping me is seriously a danger. Maybe people should have to have walking classes, and be forced to pass a test, and get a walking license.

As an American, I don't get the middle lane thing. Rufus Hound brought it up on So Wrong, It's Right too. I guess we have a different system. Here people complain about slow drivers hogging the inside lane. As for Frank Skinner and homeopathy, it is sort of his job to argue against the panelists, and he didn't exactly mount a passionate defense. Jo asked him more questions than Frank did, and she's a nurse. I'd need more evidence to call him an idiot.
@chrismkeynes7 жыл бұрын
Strictly speaking, all but the inside lane are for overtaking (I have heard it's different in America). If you drive just in the middle lane, people have to go all the way from the inside lane to the outside lane to pass, as people should not undertake (overtake down the inside).

That's actually a bumble bee. Fun fact - most people think that if something stings you and dies, it's a bee, but there's approx. 20,000 species of bee and only one dies after it stings you, which is the honey bee. There are more species of wasp that also die after they sting you, so statistically if you're stung by something and it dies, it's more likely to be a species of wasp than a bee.

I gave up on shoelaces when I couldn't find proper ones that neither came undone nor snapped too easily. The middle lane is also the legitimate passing lane for heavy trucks/lorries and they can also be their own worst enemies by cruising permanently in the middle and acting as a cluster magnet against proper flow. Homeopathy is total rubbish that demonstrates a mild placebo effect at best. Natural medicine is a kind of niche marketing snobbery. Any compound found in nature that actually works is immediately sold as medicine. There are no secret cures known only to amateur quacks. Anything really useful has been tested, refined and given a brand name like Aspirin then sold for profit.

I don't get what Jo is on about in regards of with the high heels. Sure some of them are ridiculously expensive but that's the case with everything, but I'm sure that their are shoes for a fair price. If that's not the case then I have given anyone reading this a million dollar idea. It's seems more that she just don't want women to look better than her and doesn't have any good arguments. If you want to wear boots then do it, if you want to wear heels then do it. But don't expect anyone else to think they're equal in terms of looks. And really if Jo is walking home from a pub and see a "scary looking" man behind her than she needs a reality check.
@Wakkosgirl7 жыл бұрын
Actually the problem with the heels is that the higher they are the more "posh" they are and the more they are charged for. In the meantime women's feet/ankles/legs are being ruined by them. Varicose veins, hammer toes and buunions are only part of it!
