It's pretty fun. Now looking at the price increase you may not need the foul neighbors expansion to double the price especially since I liked the odd jobs better, but it does what it does well. I think I won't ever play more than 2 encounters in a session at a time. Once you get to that third encounter it feels pretty samey, so overstays its welcome a little, but otherwise it's a really unique feel with a pretty easy barrier to entry. It's not a perfect score, but I still enjoy owning it and having it on the shelf, and I'm happy it exists. I'd say the biggest thing you'd want to like in order to pull the trigger is if the art style pulls you in and if you like setting up the various maps to have different interactions with terrain and a random boss cards and abilities being drawn. Plus dice chucking. If that sounds exciting to you then I'd say you'll probably enjoy what you get.

Thanks for the video! I really like townsfolk tussle, backed the first edition and no regrets at all. It can be random and with 4 bosses it's really long. Often I'm playing it with 2 players each with 2 characters and we split it up into 2 evenings

Can you still play with the base game gear cards if you're playing with the roles? Seems like you'd have to in order to reliably get roles, but seems like a shame to not play with the base gear.

You re right, and they were wrong! I'm pledging this game and its expansions, and I will call it: Nefarious Neighbors. I like the alliteration and the rhythm, and that's what it should have been called. And by the way, thanks for a great video that covers this new release very well. -toby

I've been trying to decide since the campaign started whether to go all in for everything, or just get the base game. I missed the first TT campaign, and have never played the game. It sounds like I'd love everything about it. Going all-in is crazy expensive, but if even YOU, the guy who says DON'T back ANYTHING, are saying that's the way to go, I guess it's time to take out a home equity loan and jump in!

Haha, well I wouldn't take out a loan to do it XD I also was hoping that it would be a bit cheaper than what it was, honestly. Even though I like the new ruffians, I don't know if you necessarily need them, but they do add some cool stuff. If you're sure you'll enjoy it, definitely pick up the Odd Jobs with it, I think that is a good value add, and only 30 bucks (I didn't realize the new Foul Neighbors would be significantly more expensive because it has 8 ruffians instead of 4). But I do think that it only improves upon the original, but I also think you get a decent amount of variance in the original. It feels VERY expensive especially with the shipping (but I know they lost a TON of money on shipping crisis last year, so it feels like they're making sure to be accurate this time)

Thanks for the review. A lot of good information. I think you could keep your personal view of unlocking and number of bosses to 2 times as well. 3 felt like it was getting a bit tedious and by 5 I stopped the video.

I bought it during the first Kickstarter, but sold it after one play. The mechanics just didn’t do anything for me - too much randomness.

I can definitely see that being the case. The abilities depending on how they come out can feel pretty swingy, but for me that's part of the charm (and part of the reason I don't ever want to play more than 2 battles)

Chris discovered a speed run strat. He can play more games if he just refuses to eat or sleep so he worked out a way to convert dice rolls directly into calories.
