Thanks for making this I have a 650 that needs a new battery....only goes about 30 minutes before failing. I saw this Brush module upgrade and was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to as well You answered my question! Now if I could get the kitten to stop attacking it....the poor Roomba thinks my living room is one foot by 2 foot and gives up!

Thanks for the video. Was about to replace my CHM and would have taken far more apart than necessary. Appreciate it.

No problem! Thought you also may want to know, 6.5 years later and this brush unit and Roomba are still being used and work like new!

I've been working on a Roomba 565 that I picked up for $30 with a nearly dead battery. Got a new battery in it & installed new brushes but been dealing with a clicking noise. Took it apart and cleaned the gear box of my green brush module. (Real bad!) Put it back together I'm still getting clicking noises. I dug in my trash & got the brush heads that came with the vacuum & cleaned them & my arm....... Slapped the originals back in & the clicking is gone.. I was thinking okay must be an issue with the new brushes. But no one in the Amazon reviews had this issue.... So I am thinking my gears are worn down. (There are allot more bristles on the new after market brush, likely stresses things more I think?) So now I am thinking I might as well just replace the whole module & even better if I'm giving it an upgrade! But I'm curious what makes the newer gray ones better then the older style green ones. Like is it that less dirt gets inside the gear box? Or do they deliver more power to the brushes or something else? All 3? lol I'm just curious. Thanks!

How do I know if our current one is working properly or not? I suspect the brushes are not turning but don't know how to troubleshoot or test before ensuring this is the problem.

Is it not picking up stuff on the floor? You should be able to hear the brushes. But you can also try putting your hand under the vacuum to see if you can feel it spinning. There are two things that provide pickup, the brushes, and the vacuum. Mine never went bad, but I did upgrade the back section (with the container and the motor unit for suction) with the upgrade AeroVac bin. So, if your robot isn't picking things up, it is one of those two things that isn't working right. Most likely the brushes though. I had a Roomba DirtDog (this was a model with no vacuum, only brushes). Even without a vacuum it picked up great on hard floors (not as good on carpet). So, my guess is your brushes are having issues.

Thanks for your video. A little off topic, but, I noticed you're using a lithium battery and I wanted to know how well it works and does it require a special charger?

Hello might be a Little late but what does the arvanced brush do better than stock
@earthling1984
@earthling1984 5 жыл бұрын
It actually is stock. Just from the 700 series. A couple series newer brush head. Some improvements were made. They changed how the bearings are so now much less hair gets stuck by the bearings. They say it also is made to pickup better.

hey bud , just bought a used roomba 531 and im curiouse what would be best to enhance it , would this upgrade work and also the bin? or is it not worth it ?
@earthling1984
@earthling1984 7 жыл бұрын
flores henriquez The bin is worth it for sure. It will have a new motor/fan which will increase suction. The brush upgrade was nice as well. But, if i had to pick just one upgrade I'd go for the bin.

What enhancements does this module come with that make it better than the old one? I just got a Roomba 535 so just curious if it would make an improvement.
@earthling1984
@earthling1984 9 жыл бұрын
If you have a Roomba 535 get the Aerovac bin. I find it makes a huge difference! (this also may be because the vacuum motor is in the bin, and my roomba was older, but it is a new design and better bin and vacuum setup). The brushes seem to work great. I don't know if they are picking up more or not, because even my old brush setup worked great. But this new one has some modifications to the brushes, and also how they attach. It has a different bearing setup with basically a large shield to help keep hair and other small particles from getting into the bearings and internals of the brushes. I would say they for sure are a better design. Both the AeroVac bin and the 700 series enhanced brush module cost $50. If you could do both upgrades, that is great, but if I had to choose one, I'd probably go with the upgraded bin. Also, when your battery eventually dies, go with a lithium battery instead of the stock nimh battery. Lithium batteries hold a higher voltage thoughout the cycle, so they give more even vacuum power at start all the way to end; they should also last longer. I put a lithium in mine, works great, but can't say how long it lasts in terms of years because only had it a month or so. What I can say is my roomba will run for up to 3+ hours on a charge.
@earthling1984

you can actually get the aerovac bin with one filter for $34.99 on the irobot site. The filters can last forever basically. I just spray them with the kitchens spray nozzle and it dries before the next use. The brushes seem to be about $50 lowest wherever I look.
