@brasso508 Drum & Bass and Garage both influenced Dubstep. Early examples of the wobble we see nowadays in dubstep came from dnb and the early minimal forms of dubstep were garage/2step based. Depends on the artist but you are both correct.

@spacecab1 Yeah Jungle helped form garage. That doesn't mean dubstep came from DnB or Jungle though. It's like saying death metal came from blues.

@spacecab1 Dubstep didn't evolve from DnB. The wobble present in (some) dubstep didn't come from DnB either. It came from dark 2 step garage. Look up El-B, Steve Gurley, Zed Bias, and Oris Jay (Darqwan). They were pretty much the pioneers of dubstep.

@drfranksy before dubstep was really even a genre it was Drum & bass (DNB)

@spacecab1 Wikipedia isn't the best source for genre information. Dubstep came from garage, and to a degree, dub music. Drum and bass didn't really have anything to do with it.

@spacecab1 What? Dubstep evolved from 2 step garage and dub. Dubstep didn't evolve from DnB. DnB may have had influence on the sounds in dubstep but it was indirect. 2 step garage and dub were directly influential on the dubstep genre. Also, I'm not from the United Kingdom.

@mynameisjonas45 You are incorrect please check the facts Wikipedia can provide for you. "The primarily synth-based basslines used in 2-step are similar to those in the style's progenitors such as UK garage and before that, drum and bass and jungle, but influences from funk and soul music can also be heard." Drum & Bass/Jungle changed a lot don't disrespect it.

@mynameisjonas45 LMAO I remember when 2step and UK Garage came out and yes it was after jungle and drum & bass. Yes, they took what they liked about drum & bass and applied it to 2step and dubstep. All the early dubstep artists even admit they use to produce drum & bass but wanted something different. I mean zed bias is on bingo beats which is owned by dj zinc an early jungle producer/DJ. Pull your head out your ass. Do I have to name countless drum & bass producers that make dubstep now?

@mynameisjonas45 I mean honestly you act like jungle and drum & bass had no major influence in redefining how you can use sub bass. Whats dubstep's biggest influence then House, Trance, Maybe even Detroit Techno? I know all the major influences I even said 2step and drum & bass helped define as well as the minimal sound characteristics of Dub. Maybe you are from the UK and don't like an American who has been deep in the scene for over a decade to school you. Whatever it is, grow up.
