We changed an average manager who faced adversity but who's project was turning the corner, for another average manager with a brand name to align with our new brand .... It hasn't worked and (I'm guessing) there is not the budget available to purchase a group of 'Front Foot Football' players for your new manager. I'm from the north and support Celtic FC . . . I think if he was allowed to stay on, the club would likely have stayed up by the skin of its teeth, which is nowhere near acceptable for a club the size and calibre of BCFC. The board made the right decision before ths rot really set in. Rooney was undoubtedly a great player, but is not manager material; he could, potentially, have a future in coaching (coaching young talent coming through, for example), but not a future in management (he lacks the knack & intelligence for it). Finally, the manner in which he carries himself in interviews and in front of the media is woeful; his communication skills are dire, and I can imagine him trying hopelessly to communicate with his players on a daily basis. His appointment was a complete debacle.

Unfortunately midfield are not defending or creating much, strikers aren't capitalising & defence is leakier than a colander. The only player performing is Ruddy. The failure is collective from board to manager to players. Unfortunately the demise & plummet down the table coincides with Rooney's arrival, so the solution is obvious but is it one the club can afford when under FFP guideline?

The key point is this is an example of the Dunning Krueger effect so people thinking they are cleverer than they actually are at whatever it is they are tasked to do. Wayne ought to say to the board look this ain't working I'm ready to walk as I want the opportunity to manage again. So IF you still want me stay and save your face then forget front foot football until we are mathematically safe. Let's bring in a bit more in January to bolster squad strength and let's go back to the Eustace way of playing and as the points increase the feel good factor will turn. Otherwise we will burn all the goodwill and gratitude for all the positive things the board have made. Also watch the videos of Zolas tenure at Bham. Let's remove the fetid smell of failure and dust ourselves and go again. In the summer we really go for it in pre season playing front foot football with new signings, integrate the old way of playing too so that always have options. Could this not work ?

Zola W2 D6 L13 Rooney W2 D4 L9 Both tried to push their own style of play onto a team not capable. How exactly did so many see this coming even before a coaching session was started? And although denied at first was allowed to be continued. We need a manager who can get the players playing to their strengths, THEN and only then coach a new philosophy into them, using the windows to bring in the right players to support that playing style.
