You city kids have missed out on something better. As a child going to a farm on holiday. A lady who worked in the kitchen used to make, ROOSTERKOEK with bread dough on the coals. The dough was put straight onto the hot coals. When done she would give us the hot roosterkoek still with hot coals stuck on the roosterkoek. You had to flick the coals off with your fingers. It was fun, burnt fingers and all. You ate It dry. To us it was like eating cake. How I miss those days as a child. Todays roosterbrood must have originated from that roosterkoek.
