@@Momo_Mori So true! It was such an uphill battle for them and they were a good sport to not resign and rather switch up their strategy to one that had the best chance (although slim) of coming out with a win. I do think they deserved the win on tenacity alone.

So did I! Cats had the choice to just do their normal thing and let me win next turn or make the dominance player win which told a funnier and more memorable story. I prefer it this way honestly even though I didn't win.

Can you make a video abot the different interactions between factions, like what faction should you pick depending on the other factions available, what are the biggest threats for each faction and who can you take advantage of. I belive the maps make a difference too, so i hope maybe you could clarify all this in a future video🤠. By the way, very cool gameplay!!🐭

Thanks so much! Yes I am already planning a map analysis series but I'd like to make more progress on Let's Get Crafty first. Also, the fact that Underworld Expansion is soon to arrive, I will be able to get a lot more familiarity with the different maps and matchups so I'll probably start to work on that once we have some time with more content.

Glad you enjoyed it! I'm going to try to get a game up soon where I play the Riverfolk, that way I'll have 1 for each faction. I want this done before Underworld comes out soon because then everyone will be clamouring for content on the new factions. I only like posting really games with cool moments and sharp strategy so I need to play 2-3 games usually before I get a really good one.

When lizards are in the game with birds, starting cats in the bottom corners is the better play. The lizards will 9/10 take the other bottom corner, forcing the eyrie and lizards to fight on one side for space.

I do agree that it's a clever play as birds are not going to be able to easily make it through the north and it forces lizards and birds into conflict in this particular matchup it's really hard to maintain control of the north when it's so far away. WA was able to get setup in that choke point (cats had no way of predicting where I would go) and thus cats lost the north and the east and were confined to the south west for the whole game. They did very well inspire of this and somehow got very close with just 1 sawmill (amazing crafting and lots of cardboard battles) but being so closed in is very tricky for cats to break out of. If the matchup contained a vagabond or Riverfolk instead of WA, then I'd agree with you that the south corner start would be more reliable against birds and lizards but this specific group of 4 is so building heavy that cats will run out of slots quickly if they aren't able to claim lots of space soon. All that being said, once ADSET arrives in the next couple of months, all this theory will be completely rewritten because cats won't always start first and will be able to setup away from corners. Early game theory is about to be torn wide open and I am unbelievably excited!!!

There was a lot of meta in the game to begin with. Especially After seeing birds hit the lizards first turn. So it was tough to predict. That’s why I thought long and hard the beginning of game where to place the keep. I wanted to put it up in the mouse corner ( not really thinking of dominance at this point) but decided to play different putting lizards and birds on one side and having you be my rebellious defense force blocking birds to the north while I craft and push my luck eating your cardboard while maintaining martial law and giving you random cards because I crafted everything in my hand and had nothing to give. Would have been glorious if I was able to keep the league of mice longer than one turn but kaz snuffed it.

Is Root Digital easy to enjoy without Adset? As a side note, do you think Despot Infamy will ever get in? I've been playing Adset over at Tabletop Simulator with plans for buying a full collection of Root for real when they release one with all the updated rules. I can't imagine going back to standard, especially as Marquise or versus Vagabond without Despot Infamy. I'm still dying for Vagabond quest refreshing to become a main rule too, and I can't imagine being able to do that in digital unless they formally patch that in.

ADSET is coming to digital very soon! I'm very used to standard setup because of playing so much digital but ADSET is going to be a welcome change and I cannot wait. Don't hold your breath for Despot Infamy or Quest Freshener though as those are house rules. Leder needs to make them official in some capacity before we even have a chance of getting them in digital.

@@nitrorev I've got my fingers crossed for digital house rule settings some day! If I remember correctly, at least Despot Infamy is written in the Law of Root as an "official" house rule? Hyped for Adset at least! I'll probably be trying digital when it hits then. Edit: It is NOT in the Law but goodness I hope it is eventually.

@@victornguyen1175 No, Despot Infamy is definitely not in the Law. It was used "officially" in the winter tournament that Leader games sponsored and Cole Wehrle have consent to test it out in that tournament. I think the results were very good and I hope the next definitive expansion includes a competitive rules set that bans Coalitions and uses DI.

Hey Nitro! Quick Ruling question here. The setup is as follows: 1. Vagabond with 28 points, Erie Dinasty with 28 points. 2. Erie Dinasty and Vagabond are hostile. 3. The Eerie Dinasty battles the vagabond with 3 warriors. 4. The vagabond does not have available swords (so it can't deal any regular hits ) but it activates an Ambush. Question: Does the Vagabond score 2 points before the battle is resolved because of the ambush thus winning the whole game? P.S: the reason the Eerie Dinasty is attacking the Vagabond in the first place is because we play with a custom rule to nerf the Vagabond in which any enemy player that breaks a Vagabond item wins a point.

No, the Vagabond doesn't score the point as a defender, he only gets extra point when remove enemies in battle during his turn. P.S: battle means using a sword, using a crossbow is not a battle, it deals 1 damage instantly and the enemy can't use ambush. So if you want to get more extra point when battle with Hostile faction, you must use Vagabond's sword.

Hoang Viet answered the question. Vagabond can only score infamy points on their own turn. So if Eyrie battles Vagabond, no matter how many hits the vagabond deals back, they will not score infamy. They can score a regular point if they are able to remove the roost from the battle but that goes for every faction.

Hey man, idk if you're still reading these, I was just wondering why you didn't move the lizard warriors from your mouse base onto the rabbitclearing, when you used false Orders, wouldn't that Kind of solved 2 issues at the same time? Triggering outrage giving you the rabbit/bird supportet you needed plus removing those annoying warriors from your base?

Fair question. There were 2 reasons. First is that I wanted to distribute the pain a little bit, so forcing cats to cough up a bird card did some good to slow down their ability to progress and hit me and the Lizards were already going to get hit hard by the revolt so forcing them to lose an additional one would be a bit overkill. The other reason is that all the adjacent clearings to that base were already sympathetic so the lizards camping on me weren't that much of an issue. Notice that after that revolt, all my moves came from the other base because I ruled it but also because it had access to a whole other section of the map with no sympathy.

why not put sympathy on lizard garden at first turn and revolt there? as the lizard player, what to do in this situation?

I only had 1 supporter of each suit. The lizard garden starts with 4 warriors which means it has martial law and would have required 2 matching supporters. So it was literally impossible with my starting supporters. Even if it were possible, there are social reasons I would not want to spread into the lizards territory. I would not want to remove lizards from the game as they might have been needed to check another player later on, also because lizards can sanctify WA bases very easily, you don't want to have a vitriolic relationship with lizards right from the start. I'd rather exist alongside the lizards rather than start a forever war from which neither of us will emerge victorious.
