Good update, in India your growing season is twice as long or as fast as ours. Hence the wire marks, you are on top of it to check monthly. I wish we had such fast growth here.

Great job Vinny, here in India 2 months is enough to remove wire , or it will damage the bark. I like your innovative works on plants, keep on experiments. Waiting for the part 3.

Hi Vinny, nice video ! I have another hopefully useful tip for you, i found it in a video somewhere on KZbin. The use of hoses on wires prevents that the wires can cut into the plant. Would be nice, to see if this is also useful in a long term perspective, as I am almost never using any wires at all, I depend only on directional pruning and bending by light as you call it.

Hi Enty Ropy, thanks for the tip. I have seen various materials being used to avoid wire cuts. But on such a tiny trunk, its not very practical, as there is hardly any space for new branches to sprout even without them. Besides, i definitely was not expecting the wire to cut in. I really thought i could be careful enough 😕 The 3 things i did differently this time, was exposure to harsh sunlight, regular fertilizing & timely pest control. So the plants surprised me with this fast growth !

It's probably not even a problem in this case, if the plants grows thicker this quickly, the cuts will disappear in no time. Atm I am fighting with Fungus Gnats (annoying little moss flies) in my place, that killed off several very young plants. I will try Neem cake next week, and see if I can finally get rid of them.

+Enty Ropy ... about 2 yrs ago i had considered joining a bonsai course in my city but i decided not to. i wanted to learn about pest control amd that person denied having that problem, despite owning such a big collection. White lie ! I have looked at the syllabus of many online famous bonsai courses too and surprisingly pest control is not listed in them. Pest control and watering are the only 2 things that keeps a hobby bonsai artist busy whole year round. How much time in a year, can one spend on wiring / styling ? And i have lost many plants to pests, sometimes i was ignorant about them & sometimes i just stopped fighting them and gave up. Even now its a relentless tough battle. Experts might say my trees are not healthy and i am 100% sure i can infect their healthiest trees when kept in my collection !

Yes, right. It's always the unexpected that keeps one busy ! But besides those Gnats I don't think I can really have more problems with pests at my indoor Bonsais, as long as I don't add anything from the outside, that can contain anything malicious. I only use sterile substrates and grow everything from seeds, which I will even try to sterilize with alcohol from now on, since I had some seeds that have been infected with fungus, which also contaminated some other seeds and small seedlings. My flat is completely protected with mosquito nets, so that there cannot enter any insects besides those tiny fungus gnats, they are too small and sometimes also come in if I open my door. I think I will from now on always have to keep an eye on them, but they will also have a hard time establishing a population in the future, because I have created a very, very tiny selfwatering pot system to spread a lot carnivorous plants between the bonsai pots.

Nice ..I got 1 question y scales attack on tree any particular reason ? On my ficus only scales attack no other bug.
