I tend to set price low (If I don't start first) so that other people would buy so I start my first turn later with 3 otter funds + whatever I earned. For all subsequent rounds, I tend to avoid setting to 1 because very good players will work together and if only one person buy from you, you end up with negative gain since you would have got 2 otter funds if no one bought from you. (Unlike first round where if no one bought from me, I would have gotten nothing extra), that being said, if I actually ended up selling some really good cards for 3 funds to a player, I could consider setting the price to 1 to make the funds of this same player "even" (3+1 = 4 = 2 trading posts)

Yep, this was exactly the point I was trying to make, settling to one before you go is just extra actions and unless you have a sick card you dont want to lose for craft ability I agree, completely worth it!

I find the burst round the hardest because by that time the other players have established a strong rule on all clearings around mine. Regardless, love your root strat vids. More please. subbed

Thanks for the sub! Yeah it can be tough, the best way to do it is to just move all your remaining warriors into a clearing where you get rule, plop the trade post and gain a guy, move all of them again, rinse, repeat. I find that the easiest way, takes a little bit of pathfinding on your part to make sure you place trade posts in proper clearings but it can work!

My favorite otter strategy. One of my friends figured it out the first few times he played the otters, and straight wrecked the table

It's really fun if you can get people to pay for your services. Slowly gaining VPs being all like "nope, nothing to see here" and next you know, Otter win!

Why didnt you use the last two funds on your first turn to do something like drawing more cards

When I make the stock footage, I don't always do all the actions, but honestly it's because I assumed if you start your services at 1 that two players would purchase before you go for the first round. This isn't always the case depending on playing group and turn order. So I wanted to show the minimum you could do on your turn if no one purchased services. Little confusing I know, and you are totes right should fill up hand if people do purchase, but I was trying to show some strat flexibility. Hope this helps, good question!
