You did a fantastic job! I can only imagine how nervous you were during the process. I am also coloring my hair myself now after my chemical cut with bleach but decided for the time being to just go a light brunette, especially to cover all my grays. Thanks Katie! ♥️ You’re so sweet. I didn’t bleach my hair though! No more bleach for me 😂 Lesson learned. And yeah, I’m sure no hairdresser would be thrilled to see me at this point. That’s also why I chose to do it myself. It’s not perfect but it’s better.

@@heidiguttenbergsame 😬40 volume isn’t recommended for the scalp actually neither is 30 but if you’re adding Olaplex to it that would lower the 30 to more safer level. Virgin hair like on your scalp should be easier to lift with dye. I just don’t want to see anyone get hurt or more setbacks.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been on my own hair repair journey since February when I had my last bleach done. It’s getting better, but I have some time to go. For the first time in my life I got some extensions to get me through these next few months. It’s helped my confidence because I’ve always had a lot of hair and thick! I used to complain about it and now I want it back. I’ll get there. You will too! Your hair already looks soooooo much better! I wouldn’t know you had any damage unless you pointed out those strands. Great job on the color! ❤

@@refiahafsa8137 Hi 👋 yes, after 8 months my hair is pretty much back to normal. It’s thick and healthy looking again. It was a long process, but it’s so much better now! I got a shower filter, used great products and was very careful. I took the extensions out after about 4 months because my hair was getting fuller and I didn’t feel I needed them anymore. My confidence is back as far as my hair is concerned. I also took supplements for hair growth. I know it can feel so devastating, but you will get your hair back! Be patient and you will see your hair growing healthier in no time.

And I was taking prose supplements (for scalp and hair growth) before this salon incident, i am still taking them however I am curious what would you suggest where you saw difference with which supplements? Also I am swallowing garlic every night before bed for strong and rich hair growth 😄 along with started eating healthy nutritions (salmon, tuna, etc)

I think your hair looks even better than before. I love this colour on you. Look at the bright side, through this disaster you are learning to take better care of your hair, you are not spending money at the salon for dying your hair but are spending money on care products which will benefit your hair, you are experiencing new colours that suit you really well and you get to help people out to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am in you position right now. I have about less the half of my hair still. And the rest is still damaged. Some gummy areas. My hairdresser was recommended to me as well. Great reviews. And did the same. Highlights except for the crown of my head. AT the crown she did bands as well. My crown is all broken off. I have two inches of good bleached hair and then 4 inches of gummy over processed hair. I’m watching this video right now. And seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Spent most of yesterday watching and rewatching your other two videos of your journey. I am purchasing right now the k18. I used the Kereastas Bain repair system but I need to try what you used. Here we go. I get the products in two days. I will be like you. Do my own hair from now on. Thank you for putting up these videos! XOXOXO

Long time no see! I’m so sorry you had to go through such a horrifying experience. Brings back memories of something similar that happened to me in my twenties. I wanted to have my first highlights, and trusting someone at work I should have never trusted, went to a salon she recommended. They left the bleach on my hair far too long. I would call out to have someone look at it, and they repeatedly said it was still not done. I finally asked to finish it right away; by the time I got home and checked it out, the bleached strands felt like angel hair pasta that I could easily pull off by the handful. I went to another salon and I don’t know what magic he did that saved my hair. Jean Paul Leclerc, God bless his heart.

Start with thin sections, and then you apply the highlift only to the regrowth parts without overlapping, by thickening the dye(use less developer), it will condact heat and you will have an even lift. Yess! I use Blond Me Level 40. That’s the only product that will lift my hair. I’ll leave it on for 1 1/2 hrs With tin foil chunks. My hair has never been damaged with Blond Me bleach. I’ve been using Neutragena sesame body oil a few drops in my hair. My hair absorbs it better than any oil including Olaplex or Coconut oil. I accidentally discovered it. My hair texture is feeling a lot better. I’m sooo happy for you. This hair repair journey is real. This is why I bleach my own hair with Blonde Me and then I go into a salon for the rest. ❤❤❤. Stay blond. It’s beautiful and it will heal. Trust me. I’ve done several times. Blonde Me has NEVER caused a disaster for me. Like I said, I’ll leave on for 1 1/2 hrs. following your journey.. happy to see the positive progress, you are on the right track, that's comforting. it seems you are dissatisfied with the tone of the dye, im writing to suggest a different recipe for root dye. so you won't have to prolong the journey of finding the right one. I have highlights level 10 (baby blond) similar to yours pre salon accident. I mix 20g of 11.12 (very grey eliminates any orange) and 20 g of 12.1 (grey with a touch of purple)my brand is schartzkopf, I use 9% volume not 12% , less harsh on the scalp. (when I tried what u mixed : no 12- it turned very brassy) the chemistry of brunets with this recipe makes it very blond as close as It gets to highlights, that's what I opt for... make a consultation ab out it, good luck 💕

@@heidiguttenberg I would use less of an extreme Violet ash color. Like a 9n maybe with a ribbon or two of 9.12. Hi! Next time you do your roots use the high lift 12 ash with the 40 volume and add a few drops of Ardell red/gold color corrector to the mixture. Don’t use the 10 hair color. If you still have brassy roots use a Demi permanent color in level 10 NA with the recommended developer for toning. The reason why you shouldn’t use 12ash for toning is because highlift colors has a lot more blue and violet pigments than a regular blonde color. Your hair right now will grab those pigments because blonde hair is normally porous but when is at a fragile stage will grab more. A Demi permanent color is use to deposit color and for toning. Will not lift. Hope it works.❤

I would still be careful with high lift! It's still quiet damaging. But now that you've done the roots touching the previous bleached parts as long as you don't overlap past that line again you should have alot easier time ! Because there is not enough pigment in the color to tone down what your roots lift too (I'm assuming your hair lifted to a level 7-8, the color is a level10 which means it only has dark enough pigments to cover level 10 hair) it might feel orangey, you can do shadow root after to retone it with less damage . A proper toner needs a super low developer (under 10vol) keep in mind that the first half inch will lift better from the heat of your scalp so for a more even color you'd need to do your roots every 4-6 weeks

What an ordeal omg! I would not try to attend coloring my own brunette hair AT HOME blonde! Girl, you will always deal with lots of brass and orange when lifting this many levels. It’s better to go darker blonde ((with 10 or 20 volume maximum) in your case if you want to stay blonde. Do a reverse balayage, leave your ends blonde. But If you lifting roots more then a level or two, you will always have brassiness (yellow/orange) no matter what.

I’ve had my hair burned off by a hairdresser and I have also had my hair break off because of well water resulting in two pixie cuts. The chemicals in water softener can speed up the developer. I’ve seen coconut oil and other leave in conditioners speed up developer too making it hotter faster but that does not mean it lifts faster. Now I always do a Malibu first and I only use 7 vol blonde me and do a very slow but even lift. I follow with a Malibu after I’m satisfied with my lift level to ensure all of the lightening chemicals are out before toning and then a bond repair treatment. I’ve found when toner or color won’t deposit after lightening it’s because of the chemicals left in the hair that shampoo can’t get out. No judgement but I wouldn’t have used 40 vol even of blonde me, personal preference but I’ve tried their 20 and that lifts fast. I would stick with lowest vol possible because I don’t want top breakage again. 2 x was enough for me. I’m glad your hair is growing and your roots look great.

I’m so sorry 😬💔 you went through this too! ☹️ Thank you so much for all the tips! I’ll definitely keep them in mind! Also, just to avoid any confusion I applied coconut oil on the midlengths and ends only and the roots were the ones being touched up.

Wow Heidi your looks so much healthier!! Glad you found a way to colour it without using bleach. Love the throwback pics. I hope you don't mind, but I want to ask you, I'm brunette & want to color some gray hairs. Should I use 30g of color & double the amount of developer?

20 volume should be good enough to cover gray. Yes I agree with the manufacturer instructions whether it’s 1:1 or 1:2. 30 and 40 volume can be harsh especially on the scalp. Also you have more of a chance to developing hot roots with a higher developer. If you have a large amount of gray there should be two formulas a darker for roots and lighter for lengths. The heat on the scalp could like I mentioned give hot roots. A very small amount of gray. You could do the lengths first then apply same formula to the scalp a few minutes after. Actually instead of me blah blah blahing There are probably specific instructions for your particular hair dye in the insert. Even with professional. Peace.

Just a little side note from a professional hairdresser, the Schwarzkopf mask does not contain a little amount of peroxide. It is just a mask with bonding properties and a pigment:) If it contained hydrogen peroxide, it could potentially snap your hair of, like those “Sun-in”- sprays that lightens your hair in the sun😊

Girl, we like you and we feel for you. However, It’s time to let your hair rest and recover for at least one year and when it’s really healthy you can go blond again. You are really beautiful. It will not matter if you are a brunette for a time. Coloring should be an enjoyable experience and not the chaos and torture you are putting yourself just to be blonde. ❤❤
@heidiguttenberg
@heidiguttenberg Жыл бұрын
I can always “recalculate” and go brunette later. You never know. I just don’t see how dying my entire hair will be healthier than just coloring (no bleach) the virgin roots. Also, because of how it got damaged at the salon, it will not take color evenly. I would be a very patchy brunette and it would take several sessions to fix this. That’s why I feel this is the best path given the situation I was put through.

Hey Heidi I know you seem very traumatised by your experience from the salon and rightly so, you did get breakage from were your foils were but can you stop saying your hair got burned off, as if your hair got burned off your scalp would be burned as well and what I can see this didn’t happen. You had breakage in what seems 1 foil, now as a professional hair stylist and a Educator for many years this happens when product is left on to long, heat maybe applied when this is not necessary to process, the peroxide level was maybe was to high mixed with lighter and with using foil contains heat will compromise your hair. Unfortunately you had breakage and totally understand your anxiety and this shouldn’t of happened however it wasn’t burnt off this sends the wrong message to people and they get the wrong idea in getting their hair done in professional salons and in 99% of cases have beautiful results. You shouldn’t be doing you hair yourself regardless of your experience 2 wrongs don’t make a right please find a professional salon any chemical need a qualified hairstylist to do

The temperature literally went up in my entire head though… 💔 She had to apply cold water for half an hour it looked like I had fever. And it wasn’t 1 foil only… I will show it better next time. I’m sure there are tons of great professionals as I mentioned twice in the video, but I’m personally not ready.

Also, I found this “Over processing your hair can result in it literally melting off (that's a technical term, we promise!) with it burning off at the root and disintegrating at the ends.” Source: www.nocohair.com/will-bleach-damage-my-hair/#:~:text=Over%20processing%20your%20hair%20can,comes%20to%20hair%20lightening%20treatments! Seems to be the correct term…

Your hair didn’t burn off at the roots though it was were the lighter was applied you could see your regrowth and the breakage in your light areas from lighter not your roots. Heidi I’m not in anyway disputing your bad experience but I can show you pictures of what a burned scalp looks like from lighter and this didn’t happen to you, cause you would of had to go to hospital and if it was 2nd degree your hair would never grow back, no way could you colour your hair for along time if ever. Please believe me I feel your pain, I so wish you were my client cause this would of never happened. But maybe your anxiety is over what the hairdresser said when taking your colour off and you are focusing on this, your hair is growing back thank goodness it’s a terrible experience and should of never happened but please there is so many amazing hair stylist please find your stylist don’t do your hair at home 😊

@@alomafisher4846 I wish you were my stylist too ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ I never said my scalp burned off… but my hair did 😢 although my scalp could have burned - as the Hair Doctor told me - had she left the bleach on even longer and that’s why he’s doing this to my scalp too MY HAIR GOT BURNED OFF SO I TRIED MESOTHERAPY FOR HAIR GROWTH | HAIR RECOVERY ❤️‍🩹 EP. 3 kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2GYpaCGeJKdm9U It didn’t burn off at the roots… it burned off where overlapping occured with previously done highlights. Also, believe me… It wasn’t one foil… the entire hair was extremely fragile and only days and days of treatments saved it. I was very lucky. I could be wearing a wig now. And the entire top layer is broken… I just style it really well but my bedhead messy hair reminds me of this disaster every single morning 💔 This is not against hairdressers at all. This is about what happened to me and how I am doing the best I can to fix it. I wish I could trust or find someone to help me… it feels stressful to do it myself. But for now this is what I can do.

Ok to give your hair the best recovery just use K18 don’t keep swapping between Olaplex in my opinion K18 is better if you keep swapping your not allowing the products to work effectively give K18 time to work over a period of time think of it like a washing machine of product always in spin cycle now this is perfect for rebuilding the structure of your hair but I want you to use a very moisturising shampoo and conditioner to break this up for example use K18 range then moisturising eg Redkin All soft your hair needs moisture plus a rebuilder… Now for the colour a root smudge no more lightning on the roots to give time to repair and give your hair and break also some lowlights to give you a balayage look but keep the front and sides foiled and face framed so you get you lightness. This would look awesome 🤩
