🟢 Why do we always say 'Thank you' when people are gone? Why do we pour our heart out for someone after it's too late and not while they're here?" 🟡 Uncle Phil, you've made the whole state of Oregon proud. Oregonians are always following their own 'Oregon Trail' and you sir, led one of the greatest expeditions ever, and that's made you one of our greatest trail blazer ever. Your influence has now gone beyond our state borders, and have impacted athletes and non-athletes alike throughout 🟡 🟢 Thank you for all that you've accomplished, and how you've poured it all back on to your roots. 🟡 I recall leaving Texas Tech's stadium last year and you just casually walked past me in your all black attire wearing your favorite Oregon hat. The first thing I noticed was the joy in your face as you found your way back to your driver after our win. The world appreciates you, sir, your impact will forever remain. Go Oregon!! 🟢🟡

This great piece on Oregon and Nike's relationship is a trip down memory lane for me. As a former Duck athlete, I'm grateful for the chance to have played football and run track at the University of Oregon. Their willingness to take a chance on me as a walk-on football player my sophomore year was a game-changer. It led to a nine year NFL career. Grateful to the Ducks! It's amazing to see how the program has flourished and evolved since then. Go Ducks!

@@ODUCKSFAN1Yes 100% right! When I traveled back to Oregon last year, Dan Lanning was very gracious. One of his goals is to make sure former Duck players know they are part of the foundation of the programs success and we are always welcome! 🙏🏽

I knew you played at Oregon and I remember you as a kid with the Chiefs but I had no idea you were a walk-on. Pretty incredible!
@jjbirden885 ай бұрын
@@jirikurto3859 Thank you! Only a few people did until I started sharing it later. None of my teammates even knew. Coach felt that if I wasn't good enough, I could go back to track without anyone knowing. Oregon was the only D1 school recruiting me in track that didn't balk at the idea of me walking only if Coach Brooks okayed it. The deal was that I could only try in my sophomore year. I think I messed up their plans because they moved me to a scholarship that helped the track team.

Oregon, Eugene specifically isnt just known for Ducks football, its also become a mecca for running, major track & field events/championships. Track Town USA its called. This also is right up Nike's ally - outfitting collegiate and Olympic athletes. Nike is headquartered in Beaverton Oregon, however they probably should have relocated to Eugene decades ago

These uniforms look stupid. It just also goes to show that Oregon would rather play dress-up than actually play football. If Oregon focused more on player development, getting better coaches, and getting better players, instead of worrying what they're uniforms look like, then maybe they'll actually be a good team. Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State have had the same uniforms forever, and they're all Champions. Winners don't worry about what they wear. They spend money on where it counts, not their wardrobe.
