Very great points! I’ve known so many people who have put off travel until retirement and died! I feel you can strike a balance between saving for retirement and traveling now!

I know people today wait till they got to their mid 60s and can’t leave home or can only travel a short amount of time away because they will be too tired.

Excellent, excellent points. Your last point, talking to your spouse about expectations after retirement, my husband has tried to talk to me. I don't know what I expect. We do agree on travel and what that will look like. Thank you for sharing this.

Getting closer and closer to retirement. Our biggest regret is that we didn’t buy a single story home 30 years ago. My knees do not like the stairs that were once a “beautiful feature”. Can’t afford homes in my neighborhood even with the equity value.

I have retired and have got back into the gym and strengthened muscle groups particularly legs. Stairs are no problem.

Boy did you hit that one right --- I grew up in a tri-level house and there really was only 6 or 7 steps to the upstairs from the kitchen -- both my mom and dad when they got to their 80s really really struggled with those steps. I think my dad must have fallen either going up or down several times. Near the end, he literally couldn't get up those steps -- we had to get him one of those little elevator chairs you see on TV (shame, we put it in and 2 weeks later he died)

I am glad you mention how church is a part of retirement living. Most others miss that one.

If you feel that Church is important yes it is . Many people were never brought up with any Church and feel a lot less hatreds and no non sensical hang ups in their head .

I recently found your podcast and KZbin channel and enjoy the contents very much. I heard that the RMD requirement will be removed from Roth 401k starting 2024. Will that affect retirement contribution, withdrawal and Roth conversion strategy?

less than 30 seconds to get the answer from IRS.gov; "Roth IRAs do not require withdrawals until after the death of the owner. Designated Roth accounts in a 401(k) or 403(b) plan are subject to the RMD rules for 2022 and 2023. However, for 2024 and later years, RMDs are no longer required from designated Roth accounts. You must still take RMDs from designated Roth accounts for 2023, including those with a required beginning date of April 1, 2024."
