I appreciate the names of the songs, so casual reggae listeners know who's playing on 90% of reggae released from 79-84, golden age of rub-a-dub. The best!!!

Nah. It says in the description "King Tubby" . Scientist is more experimental than Tubby.

So they are KING tubby dubs re-released by the original band, reggae music gets confusing like this.
@nikonerf84103 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? Reggae has always been confusing when it comes to music rights and releases. This album was released as a Roots Radics LP in 1982. The problem is the following: this record like many others of that time was recorded at Channel One. It was produced by Jah Thomas like most Roots Radics albums. At that time it was normal to record to reel to reel tapes. On these tapes you had 8 or 16 tracks. To make a Dub Mix someone would bring these master tapes to King Tubby's studio. And there they played these mastertapes on a special tapemachine and routed the different tracks to a mixing board where the REMIXED those prerecorded songs and made Dub versions out of it. In this case these Dub Versions were released as Roots Radics LP. But Tubby and also Jammy and Scientist made not just one version out of the original riddims. Often they would make four or five different mixes from the same rhythm track so that they could give every sound system an exclusive mix. But after King Tubbys Death in 1989 many of those tapes got stolen or sold and these recordings were often rereleased as King Tubby Compilations.
