How do you get the rope off in this situation, if you can’t get close enough and the horse is larger/flightier?

stay working with her on pressure and release with the rope until they get good enough otherwise its about trying to get the rope at an angle so you can feed the rope into the loop the bigger it gets the easier it is for the horse to get out and eventually step out of it.

Are you aware that you can get a horse comfortable with a rope and halter without roping her like that? This way definitely stresses them, its better to teach them at liberty with positive reinforcement,they can learn verbal commands outside of a pen, so when you do halter break them they are easy and not scared of dragging the rope...
