Nah, you need respect as well as desire for it to be true love. But mostly you need to understand each other and see the other person as a whole person as well as wanting them. Otherwise it doesn’t last beyond a few years and flames out because desire just doesn’t last that long scientifically. You need to be able to communicate with each other to keep the sex good and exciting. And if you can’t do that, you at least need the respect and the romantic connections on non-sexual matters to make it worth while staying together with a wound-down sex life. And the idea that Rory and Jess don’t have anything more than desire is wrong. Rory and Dean only have teenage desire and puppy love (and the sentimentality of it being the first relationship) Jess and Rory have a deeper understanding, respect for each other and connection that over and over is highlighted by the show as why she chooses him over Dean. It’s why Dean is only in Rory’s life when he’s a romantic interest but Jess and Rory are clearly in each others lives for life.

i still think jess and rory could have been endgame, but they never got the timing right. i love jess, but he was too immature for a committed relationship when he and rory were together in season 3. he was a smooth sweet talker but he didn’t treat rory right. but once he moved away from stars hollow, got a job and his own place, he grew so much as a person. when he wrote his own book and guest starred in that episode to tell rory about it, i really wanted him to stay in the show for longer so he and rory could try again. jess was the one to make rory self reflect about her life and the whole dropping-out-of-yale thing. his book kinda made her rediscover her excitement for books since we hardly saw her with a book again once rory started college. plus the way he acted when logan was grilling him and being all elitist at dinner with him and rory really impressed me because he kept his cool, stayed polite even when he had earned his right to tell logan off. it showed a huge growth in maturity because i just know jess would have cussed logan out if he had been 17 when they met. basically, i think it was a missed opportunity to not retry jess + rory again but as adults, whether in the college seasons or AYITL. (because rory having an affair with logan was such bullshit and showed that rory learned absolutely nothing between the years 2000-2016)

God Rory was so dumb taking the bus! She should have taken the Metro North Railroad in the Stamford or New Haven side (believe that’s where Chilton school on either of them) with no worries of traffic. That’s what she would have done and not miss Her mom’s graduation. But yes Rory can take a taxi on the metro north station when she gets off in any Connecticut stops in Stamford side or New Haven side.

I'm just curious. Plz don't hate me team Jess. I just DON'T understand: Look, Jess tries to break Rory and Dean's happy relationship just for his pleasure? It looks terribly selfish. And he is terribly rude to Rolelai although she wanted to be good to him when they first met. Also, he humiliates Dean with no reason except his jealousy for Dean having Rory as a gf. And Jess gets Rory in a car crash, and leaves the town without apologizing to her? Sure, he didn't want to be blamed for everything, but wouldn't it be nice if he apologized for Rory and breaking her car? The town's residents wouldn't have hated him if he behaved normally. He also kind of steals Rory's bracelet without knowing that it is important to her. I can understand that, but he tells Lorelai that he didn't steal it, like a kid trying to hide something he did even though he's sure his parents know about it. sorry, but I don't understand how Jess has a big fandom online. Honestly, I think Dean is better, because Jess causes Rory stress. I seriously think that most of us Team Jess love him for how attractive he is. He has good and bad things, as Dean and Logan has, but Rory and Jess do a really good aesthetical couple. The actors even dated in real life, which I think makes even easier to stan this fictional couple. Also, they had more interests in common than Rory & Dean and Rory & Logan. Ps: I think the accident was just that: an accident. It's no one's fault. Jess didn't want an animal to cross the street, he didn't wanted to hurt the animal nor Rory. I think Rory would have tried to avoid running over the animal too, it doesn't matter who was driving.

Because Dean is boring and Jess keeps her on her toes...and he challenges her and pushes her to be more..rory let me him drive the car...rory said lets take another circle around town when jess suggested going back to study..Jess didn’t crash her car cause of irresponsibility, she said a racoon ran accross the street n jess tried to avoid it...he didn’t steal the bracelet..Rory left it in the lake..he took it and eventually seeing how important it was to her, he gave it back...he was always respectful to Rory and loved her...
