“I can’t believe people perceived it that way. It makes no sense to me because the shuffle is a technique. It’s a way to draw your opponent’s attention. Rory did the technique three or four times, and he followed it up with a superman punch. It’s exactly what we drilled. He was trained to do that. He was not just doing it to showboat. He was doing it to execute a strike." - TriStar head coach Firas Zahabi talks about Rory MacDonald's Ali Shuffle.

Well said. Emotions will make a doctor botch a surgery or blow a diagnosis, and emotions will make a fighter get hurt. Great job last night by Rory, he kept his focus and didn't finish BJ but he still dominated him like GSP does to his opponents. GSP's lone losses in the UFC derive from emotional distress, whether his hero-worship of Hughes or his family problems while training for Serra. The mark of a successful man is the ability to learn from others' mistakes, and Rory has a bright future.

Why do people keep hating on this guy?! I just don't get it.... Watch his fights for fuck sake! the kid's a stone cold killer! He has tonnes of skill and more than enough guts. Rory's a BEAST. He looked like a complete different fighter tonight. If you saw his fight with Che Mills, he went for the takedown as soon as he got hit with those punches. It looked like Rory had weak stand up skills but after watching this fight, he DEFINITELY improved. His striking is surprisingly very similar to Condit's. I was thinking of Condit the whole time when he was showing off those striking techniques lol.

Hendricks has been on a tear lately. He's got a powerful left hand. If he connects it's lights out. In all fairness, Koscheck did quite well, and his wrestling is at par with Koscheck. That being said, I think GSP won;t have any problems outwrestling Hendricks, and we don;t know how Hendricks BJJ is, and if he has any submission defense. GSP has nothing to worry about if he takes Hendricks down and can possibly even submit him.

Whoever can't respect a hard working honest guy should just refrain from commenting. Too much negativity and what's the point. If you don't have anything better to do go find a hobby or something to make you happy. If your jealous because he's younger and more successful than you forget the hobby and work harder to be more successful. Congrats to Rory a respectful and tough guy...

why are people bashing him for not being crazy outgoing and emotional? he's a freakin fighter. he explained in the Road to the Octagon show that his childhood was pretty bad, his father wasnt around at all, and his mother didnt really want him either. He had problems in school being made fun of. Upbringings like that tend to make a guy more reserved and introverted. Cut the guy some slack. Not everyone is like a blooming flower in front of cameras.

All these people talking about "lack of emotion" have no idea what fighting is about and have probably never been in one, real or in a sport situation. Emotions get you killed or a loss in fights, period. Same as in life actually. You are a child if you let your emotions have any control. The first evidence of character and maturity in a person is their ability to control their emotions. Rory is one of the most mature fighters I've ever seen for his age. ppl can learn a lot from him.

Great fight man, I think the boos were undeserving! He deserved more, he bringed it! Bj is a Legend man, always been a fan and was rooting for him, but Rory is a beast. Rory got a bit exposed with his wrestling takedown defense, so Damien Maia would be a good matchup there

Well said and I agree. You actually reminded me of an old wise saying with something you said, it goes like this: "Stupid people never learn from their mistakes, smart people learn from their mistakes, but wise people learn from other people's mistakes." I wonder how Dana feels and what he will say about Rory saying he'd never fight GSP. That should be fun to listen to. lol. Nothing against Rory on that though, I respect his heart on that matter.

I will always root for GSP first, and I believe he can beat anyone in his division, but anything can happen in a fight. After that, I'd like to see Rory beat everyone, including Condit in a rematch. I think Rory vs Carlos should happen next, and I hope rory wins. If condit wins he should fight GSP again. if Rory wins he should fight Diaz. Hendricks can wait. I want all these guys to beat Diaz. We'll see. I believe these things can happen.

I want GSP to win always, I like him. I think he can beat everyone in the division, but in fighting anything can happen. He beat Condit after being off a year and a half! I agree this kid is way overhyped. He owned Diaz and Penn. I'll give him credit for that. I agree he would have won on the scorecards if he survived Condit's onslaught. In all fairness, he didn;t dominate Condit. since then Rory could be a better fighter, but he's not even close to GSP's level. Forget Condit, I would prefer to see him face Koscheck, Fitch, Hendricks, Shields to see if the can handle the elite of the division.
@jensonvaughan
@jensonvaughan 11 жыл бұрын
His technique is top notch, his strength is top in his division, and he has a killer instinct that few posses and that GSP hasn't shown in years. I remember hearing how ''overrated'' Jon Jones was as well. Rory will be champion. He's focused and doesn't play the game like a lot of fighters do which only makes him more scary in my opinion. Diaz brothers anyone?

i just watched his fight with condit a few weeks ago coming into his penn fight. he did not "thrash" condit. the first round he won, but the second round couldve went either way. if rory wouldve survived the third round, the judges would have scored it as a split decision. i never said he wont be a great fighter. its just that he is way too overrated. he has yet to face a decent fighter relevant to the division since condit.
@jmoo1257
@jmoo1257 11 жыл бұрын
LOL...Rory's wrestling isn't NEAR his best weapon. He actually NEVER wrestled in HS, but trains it with GSP as he does his BJJ. His BJJ, however, is his best weapon. Not saying he'd submit Diaz, but he'd do what Henderson did to Diaz's younger brother and take his back twenty times. Also, Rory's boxing is on par with Nick's, he has some sick leg kicks, which I think would keep Nick at bay. Regardless, it would be a super close fight.

If you can not recognize the aptitude and potentiality of him one day becoming a champion (or rather him currently containing the spirit of one). Then you are not a good judge of talent nor are you a good analyst on issues pertaining to UFC/MMA. I too recognize the talent in Condit. However, Rory's a better fighter who IMO has reached imaginable heights in skill at such a young age.

Ok yes bj did call him out. That's not what I'm saying though. It was taunting. Plain and simple. So then call it what it is. Don't sit there and try to act like "oh no it wasn't taunting at all! It was just my strategy and meant no disrespect at all!" That's bs. Yes he was called out but even if bj called ME out being one of my heroes as well, and if I was kicking his ass I'd still give him the respect he deserves. That's just me.
