Nope, you got family money? Family who went here? Apply early? Not Asian(competitive schools don't want asian students because they are BETTER than the other kids! uh hey other kids keep up)? You're in. The book Price of Admission blew my mind. Every parent who WANTS their kid to go to Ivy needs to read it. Rory was smart but realistically she got into Yale because of her grandfather's legacy and his personal connections...which is how most people get it.

That's another reason Paris > Rory. Paris truly forged her own way through Yale, where she had no family legacy. And her father lost the family fortune, so she was broke for some time while she was there. Paris overcame adversity and came out on top. Rory never did, and so floundered throughout Yale and afterwards. Perhaps if she actually did choose Harvard instead, she would have had to fight in order to achieve something, but...
