I think people were too quick to place rosé in a box of only associating her with the acoustic guitar and her raw vocals. I'm glad she didn't do something that was expected of her. She showed that she can pull off more than just acoustics. I loved On The Ground on the first listen and still to this day. It really just depends on my mood for which one I like better.

I started off loving On the Ground more but now I love them equally. On the Ground is something like a me myself and I kickass anthem - something you can jam too while Gone is that song that reminds you of your ex and all the pain he put you through! It’s sweet, sad, and nostalgic and really emotional.

In “Gone,” ROSÉ laments about a lost lover. She pours out her emotions of being left behind broken hearted from a relationship that she committed to. ROSÉ sings about being haunted by the memories of her past relationship. Like in most cases, she believed this was her relationship for life. But just like in most cases, it was not meant to be.The way ROSÉ describes this relationship makes us think that this ex-guy had no intentions of a long-term relationship with her. She wanted to be ‘The One’ for him, but he had already moved on. And trying to hold on to people who are running out of your life is just torture.In the pre-chorus, ROSÉ goes as far as to say that she ‘hates’ this person for what they did to her; “all alone, cryin’ ugly.” The chorus is even worse as she adds “I’ll put a curse on her and you.”But fortunately for the singer, she also says that her hate is gone in the second verse of the song. Cultivating hate is a parasite that only kills you slowly. So, letting go and moving on are the only healing options you have. Easier said than done, of course!

Personally speaking, I liked gone better because , it just felt like rose , songwriting , personal , emotion heavy , thoughtful , cozy , aesthetic, everything is there , on the ground is for sure inspirational but it felt a bit light and short , it’s a great song but I feel like it would fit a lot better if she had 4 songs in her ep , because songs like , never be the same , blinding lights .... song like those where it’s dark pop but still emotion heavy would be a lot better than just getting 2 completely different songs , for me on the ground felt like it came from a bright place but the musicality just fell a bit short , I was expecting more depth like an upbeat, dark , attitude , deep song , a sad disco or a dark disco m kind of something that makes you want to vibe and dance but still u want to say “wow this hits every spot”
