Rosa Gallery Dot Card and In-Depth Swatch and Color Review - The Dot Card Project

I purchased the Rosa Dot Card with all 60 colors! In this video we swatch them all and then swatch out EVERY Rosa palette currently available and talk about them!
Overall I absolutely LOVE my Rosa paints and cannot say enough nice things about them!

Great extensive review of the paints and the sets. I started with the Monopigment 12 and then got the Monopigment 21. Should have started with that! At least I'll have a mini tin for travel. ☺️I also ordered some extra colors, and most recently ordered the Romantic set specifically for the white mix colors. I'll have extras of the primaries for back up ☺️ Highly pigmented, great value paints. I ordered the 14 set and the 28 set in the cardboard box for Christmas gifts for friends. Thanks for covering all the options!

I think this is the most comprehensive set of swatches of Rosa paints right now. The detail is lovely. I'd rather you referred to colours than their number code but thats personal. With the list in front of me of the dot card it would be easier to follow. Interesting that Rosa have chosen to put together portrait and floral sets in the same way as Winsor and Newton did for their new part sets of student grade colours. 8/12 pans but you choose separate pans to buy to fill it up. I did some swatches of their specialist sets in the same way as you have here. I'm disappointed that Rosa don't have a cerulean blue equivalent for skyscape but some of the turquoise based colours are a good starting point. The same for seascapes with viridian and turquoise. I'm ecstatic about their transparent colours. I'd like to try them. Equipment and the acrylic fabric paints/prints interest me too. Well worth investing in Ukrainian products given the war they are in right now.

But I totally get what you are saying about the names and I can include both in the future!!! I have loved all of my Rosa sets and love supporting them as well! Thanks again!

Nice review!! This was definitely helpful, there are so many different sets and I felt really overwhelmed 😅 I was wondering, which Rosa colours/paints do you think are granulating, and how do they compare to granulating paints of other brands? I love granulating paints, but so many paint brands are _so_ expensive, and if there are dupes in the Rosa lineup in terms of granulation, I would love to get them instead 😊 Thanks for the great video!

This is a GREAT question! My swatches were small and mostly mass tone - but I do know that several of the colors on the dot card are labeled as Granulating. Those color numbers are: 706, 707, 744, 743, 741, 750, 752, 716, 715, 736, 758, 746, 753 and 759. I'm going to test these colors on larger swatches, and with some salt, and I'll get back to you! I can even compare it to any comparable product I have (Daniel Smith, M Graham, Sennellier). I hope this helps and be on the lookout on my community tab or for a video if I really get down a rabbit hole!

Just bought the modern 21 set can’t wait for it to arrive, added seven to fill the box, incredible value. Your video has been very helpful in reassuring me, after the event, that I had got the right set for me. What a choice they give you! While I can get them here in the U.K. they did not come in the set I wanted or as separate pans, so I opted for Artemirands who I have bought from before, and whose prices exactly matched the U.K. sellers, but with the whole range to choose from. They did not have an easy to read list of colours though and I think I may have duplicated a colour trying to juggle between two web pages. If I had been buying a full pan of W&N, Schminke or some other expensive brand that would have been an expensive mistake, as it is I can just let it go. I have a feeling this will be my relaxed palette to use, I sometimes find the very expensive paints quite intimidating to use. Thanks for this really thorough review, so much useful information in a very practical format.

@@artsykristy I have been using them, they are so pigment loaded! Once I got the hang of that I found them to be lovely to use. Am using them on Jackson’s 100 cotton eco paper, they are layering nicely on this paper, on other handmade paper, Khadi they had a fairly long drying time, with ultramarine taking a longer time than other colours. This getting to know process is very useful. Each brand seems to have an optimal type of paper that suits it best. And brushes too. I really think these are very different to White nights. I think they will be very useful to artists who prefer to work large.

I really love my set! I totally understand where you are coming from - they are great for anyone looking for a new set but I wouldn't buy them if you have a set you already love!

Its funny you have all the colors in the romantic set besides the gray in your set, so maybe you did like it. I ordered the romantic and modern thursday night and it should be here tomorrow but i am really coveting that plastic palette that i didnt notice till this morning, which has overnight delivery. I have a few hours to get all three together, but it seems like overkill. I wish the palettes didnt share so many shades. I appreciate you going over everything, it was really helpful.

The names are not in russian, but in Ukrainian. Yep, it’s different language and different county. :) but on tubes with paints you’ll find names of colors in English too. Hope dot card will changed too. Have a good day!
