It's sorta why we don't eat them. The interesting part is that dogs have been with us so long that we see their "babies" as our "babies." That is also why the trend for small dogs occurred, our brains can't tell the difference, so they are in essence infants. You like Cookie, because you think she is a child that needs taken care of.
