I beg to defer. The original version of Rosas Pandan has long been a popular folk song in the Cebuano and the Bisaya speaking provinces. He picked the song and arranged it because it is a musical piece that would click in the global arena. It's the hilarious lyric "nag tabisay ang laway" - the drooling saliva that made the song funny. Choirs like to sing funny and melodious songs.

Was the classical tempo that we heard and watched are that unique in setting the Adrenaline on its peak? Or is it the character played by chorale that we're get hooked on? He was a UP grad and now a music teacher in SF. Rosas pandan was soon followed by many more of his arrangements like ayayay pagibig, paro parong bukid, leron leron sinta, etc....

I share oksappysinger's opinion. I, too, think this is the best rendition of the song by a non-Filipino.choir. i would say it's up to the standards of our best choirs. (I am Filipino.) It is finely textured, has excellent volume control, and the tempo is on point! Kudos!
