Jerry, you are a Master of your craft; the people typing that you are 'doing it wrong' are NOT masters of this craft. Please, sir, don't feel like you need to justify why you do things the way you do them, your instruments are the best testament that you know what you are doing. No amount of explaining will ever silence the Peanut Gallery. God bless you & keep you.

At 27.44 I can't help by be reminded of Matt at Texas Toast Guitars who always says, "If you're so smart, build it yourself, because that's what I do." Keep up the great work, I love watching you do what you do and with very few "fixtures."

I love it! I think it will be absolutely beautiful when the finish darkens the wood a little. You did not earn a thumbs up, you earned two thumbs up. As to how you do your work, that's simple whatever works best for you is the best way to do it. Each craftsman has his own particular way of working. What will be will be. Just accept that your work is world class and let it go at that. Be well my friend.

That laser cutter makes perfect details! Great idea using the porcelain repair putty as a filler.
@mfc45915 жыл бұрын
The product you used as a white filler is made in sunny South Africa. It comes as a clear, or white or grey for different applications, its tough stuff ! I think South Africa is held together with that product !...…. and I agree, don't listen to what people tell you. a master craftsman like yourself is in a league above what most of the rest of us humans do. Carry on doing what you are doing. This is a master crafted guitar built by a master

The old school methods work just fine, Jerry! Don't let others sway ya, you've crafted enough instruments that you know when things feel right or not. The pin method for fretboard location is tried & true, why change? Many people don't realize the results of a craftsman's touch. Late 50's Fender guitars were blessed with Tadeo Gomez and his neck shaping skills, the necks were different when Tadeo left. You do beautiful work my friend, thank you so much for sharing what you do!!

Let me start by saying, I am Not trying to sell a "better" way, to do it. You expressed a bit of concern, with attaching the fingerboard binding, at the sound hole. Have you thought about using caul and a cabinet makers face frame clamp or an edge banding clamp? That guitar is well on it's way to being a superstar. Your selection of woods and their placement is just beautiful.

As usual, it's beautiful and the love you put into what you do is self evident by the end product. Your little locator brad nails, how proud of the neck are they, .03, .045, .06? I hear you talking about folks mentioning salt to hold the fret board on location. I'm with you, pinning things up is a superior, permanent locating method for most everything, besides salt and humidity is bad juju for pretty much everything. Thanks again for sharing and looking forward to seeing how your experimentation with finishes from previous builds is going to work for you.

Another great video Jerry. But i could hardly pay attention to you cutting the slots for the binding on the head stock as i couldn't stop looking at the inlay, it is really stunning. also really love the choice of woods for the whole guitar really lovely. Jerry, make sure your porcelain-white epoxy is Fully cured, before you apply the finish. If not, you may have amine bleed through problems. (there goes your finish) Not my own thought, just looked up using polyurethane over epoxy.
