I am more than convinced that nuclear energy is the way to go, if we wish to cut carbon emittions! NOT solar or wind.

@Dirk Hoffmann @Dirk Hoffmann watch these videos, kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3PWpoFmqquZmZo kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaTWqKWCgNGcpLc The operating life is very short and once retired, the wastes are not recyclable and mostly end in landfill. Plus the disadvantage of creating environmental eyesore, that is why offshore wind farm is the current trend in Europe.

Solar & Wind maybe good idea, but they don't have longer lifespan compare to turbines use by both nuclear & combustion-type & dams.

Sooo impressive. Russia and China are now the only ones left capable of delivering NPPs on time and (mostly) on budget. We in france unfortunately dropped the ball some 25 years ago ;_;

You still have more nuclear reactors on your territory than we do in Russia, so things aren't as bad as you say. However you need to scale up if you intend to compete with Rosatom on a global level since politics and dyplomacy are the only things making western reactors viable for developing countries where Rosatom provides more in terms of ease of building, cost, refurbishing nuclear waste, etc.

That's because they were built by a public traded company and not a state company,huge difference between the 2,not to forget the anti nuclear goups and policies placing a large red tape for development.China and Russia's dominance in the nuclear realm is largely because it's a government program,so they're indemnified to provide results.

The predecessor of the VVER-1200 is the VVER-1000 developed in the early 1980s, which has since been used in the Czech Republic in addition to the USSR in the number of 4 pcs, in Bulgaria in the number of 2 units, while all installed reactors of this type are still in operation except for 6 pcs of the former Soviet, then Ukrainian in the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which were shut down 2 years ago after Russian troops occupied this plant because Ukrainian troops started then shelled this power plant and they still shelling. The predecessor of the VVER-1000 is the Soviet VVER-440 developed in the late 1960s and installed in Finland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary in addition to the USSR. All these reactors are still in operation except for the oldest models of them in Slovakia - 2 pcs of the V1 Jaslovské Bohunice power plant, which were started in the mid-70s and were shut down for political reasons at the time when Slovakia was to become a member of the EU, in any case they were replaced in this country the more modern model VVER-440 later. The predecessor of the VVER-440 is the Soviet reactors installed on submarines and icebreakers of the first generation.
