Perfect collaboration, speaking through a collaboration of reconciliation between our history and our dreams, our aspirational humanity, shared.

I'm a huge fan of the Art Ensemble of Chicago and of Roscoe Mitchell since many years, and during the last week I listened to many records by Moor Mother (not only the couple released by ANTI-) with great pleasure, but the two together don't seem to fit very well to my ears. I don't want to analyze things too much, but it seems to me that Mitchell is renouncing to its complexity as a composer and Camae Ayewa, on the other hand, is not taking the listnener to another place as it happens when accompanied by other musicians or creating a sonic landscape by herself, as if scared by the importance of the Maestro. Anyway it takes great courage to get out of your comfort zone, so I'm happy to had the opportunity to listen to this meeting and that it occurred. I know Moor Mother is featured on AEoC last output, 'The Sixth Decade', but I'm not interested in it as far as I could listen on Bandcamp. I'll listen, obviously, to their new soloist material when it will be released.

It's not her job to create music that fits well to "your ears" and takes YOU to another place. Who the hell are you? A freeloading casual listener who wants to now position yourself as as some art critic? Instead of listening to the actual message all you can think about is the fact that it didn't send chills down your spine. She's not some dancing monkey or sambo who needs to entertain YOU or anyone else, she is a MESSENGER and you completely missed that point. Just know her performance that didn't wow YOU, set the stage for her to be a PROFESSOR at USC (with no bachelor's or master's degree to her name btw) and a recipient of hundreds of thousands of dollars in prestigious fellowships, grants and awards while you parade on here like some wannabe Pitchfork journalist. You entitled freeloading consumers have no appreciation or understanding of music (especially the black avant garde/free jazz, experimental scene) and you make no investment in it other than trying to criticize, nitpick and take. She doesn't make music for freeloaders like you, she makes music for her community and for the true patrons of the arts cutting them CHECKS!
