Hi. My congratulations to you, my colleague. Today I did my first job using the intarsia technique, but of course I didn't have as many details as your piece. If I reach half your level I will be very satisfied. Congratulations, and keep posting more videos. Sorry for the errors in the language. I am Brazilian and therefore do not speak English.

Very nicely done, I really enjoyed. I have been doing scrollsaw for about 8 years and now I want to move into intarsia, would be fine if you can show in your next video a little more on the sanding process. Thanks!

Antarsia seems to be quite labor intensive. Even the simple projects. Don't know if I have the attention span for it, but I'm giving it a shot.

For your first video you did an awesome job! I'll be saving this one as I am just getting started in intarsia and you explained a lot about the "height" and how to increase depth with it. I saw this on the plans I have but was a little confused as how to do it. I'm impressed with how the natural colors of the wood stand out.

The way you discribe it and the result is amazing. I would much appreciate it if you mention the used materials like coatings and used sawblades in a comment.

Thanks DC! I am just learning about intarsia, and your video was very helpful! Very nice work! One tip for gluing that comes from woodworkers: a little salt sprinkled on one side after glue is applied keeps the joined pieces from sliding around. For a first time video, that was awesome! Keep 'em coming!

Good work. Would have liked to see some actual shaping of some edges to get an idea of how difficult that might be. I assume it can be challenging to shape some of the smaller pieces. Wondering if you have any tricks for holding on to pieces while shaping.

For your first video, wow well done I enjoyed your tutorial. Question: could I use a band saw. ? I haven't Bought a scroll saw yet!
@Crow_Saw2 жыл бұрын
The answer is "yes" with a qualifier. A bandsaw will absolutely do the work of a scroll saw, so it's a good tool to use if that's what you have. The qualifier: Scroll saw blades can be VERY thin, which can become necessary for fine detail work. Just the thickness of the bandsaw blade can lead to gaps and separation that may become exponentially more visible with the more individual cuts a single project may require. Also, a scroll saw blade can be better twisted to get into little nooks and crannies. I think anyone whose used a bandsaw has probably accidentally knocked a bandsaw blade off its track in the middle of a cut. Aside from being a little dramatic, if that happens in the middle of a particularly "fiddily" cut, you could snap whatever you're making. So, yes, a bandsaw works well enough for early or uncomplicated pieces. It's a solid place to start, especially if you're unsure about investing in new tools for a new hobby. But as you progress, you may find that there are cuts the bandsaw simply isn't equipped to handle. I'm thinking specifically about the detail work around eyes and noses when you're making any kind of animal portrait; which in my experience is what most people request when you're trying to sell these things. I hope I was helpful!

you can stop `things sliding around` by sprinkling salt over the area you don't want to slip and slide
