Good tips. We have heavy clay and rock in Eastern WA. We live in a pine and douglas fir forest at 3700 ft. Short growing season and long freezing period. I plan to grow 2 climbing varieties in raised beds that will gave a arch we will make using a cattle panel. The boxes are 4×4 ( left overs) and 10 inces deep. We plan to add 12 more inches of depth before planting. On had at home, I have well aged horse manure, well aged duck bedding, local compost ( very sandy and called 4 in 1 compost for gardening) peatmoss, pearlite, sand, and a few bags of mix called ( in ground planting mix) its like composted bark and black in color. All of that to choose from for planting stuff around here. I'm concerned about the weight of the roses on the arch and the hard winters we have.

Brad, Thank you so much for saying the date! YT makes it so hard, when it comes to gardening and flower growing, to know exactly when something is being done. "4 years ago" tells me squat! lol I'm new to gardening, in the last few years, and especially new to roses just this year...so thank you!! It’s late May, Zone 6b, and I am planting a nursery bought climber into a large pot for the summer. Can you talk more specifically about the fertilizing regimen, what to use and how often, for the day I replant and the rest of the growing season. Products I have on hand are Liquid Fish Fertilizer, Rosetone and Osmocote Plus Granules. The plant currently has small buds. Thank you.

I really like your channel . Love the roses. I'm trying to grow climbers on my deck and have paved driveway with no dirt below where the pillars go into the ground. Can I use wine barrels and have enough of a root system that they will climb up 5ft. And spread out ?

What is the right size for containers? I am planning on doing rose climbers on my balcony and have them grow to the top of my building since I'm on the top floor. I don't want to restrict it's growth too much so I want to get the size of the container right.
