Rose should start a KZbin channel it will help people who want to know more about her and her life family and how she feels and experience everyday living in mizoram and also show case her talent as well in some videos that will be awesome coz most people love to watch interracial couple YT channels, people love to see this type of relationship and how they live adjusting to each other's cultures

As far as I know "saap" is a word derived from "sahib" Hindi word which means "boss/sir/madam" it's kindda word of respect for someone's superior, so back in the day of British rule The English Officer were addressed as "saap" so from there on all the white skin are generalised as "saap"

The part where you name or described, Sap Ram as a 'mythical place' is kind of true and funny, not in a bad way. indeed there's no exact country. And yes, the Sap people we call are so vast. And do not necessarily have to speak English language. Well done, Kip. You understand the whole concept now. Rose may indentify herself as Native American but we still see her a Sap woman.
@hchuma37612 жыл бұрын
We literally call the white people caucasians as sap now, not necessarily the British royals or the English people.

And Kip, reiterating to my comment earlier, when the Gospel was introduced to us in Manipur (i wouldn't go to the lengthy history) in 1910, a missionary from Wales, Mr Watkin Roberts came to Senvon, a village in Southern Manipur. (He came from Mizoram). Spread the Gospel, so and forth. Rest is history... They called him 'Sap Tlangval*'. They translated the term to him as 'Mr. Young Man'. That was how he went with his 'title' and so forth. i do not wish to question the local academics who gave him the title back then. And you too in our language can be called a 'Sap Papui*'. and i do not want to christen another title for u...in my own imagination. Our vocabulary is a bit limited. The translaions wouldn't make the most meaning sometmes. But you uderstand the whole concept already. And if my post here will generate a lot of brouhaha, then i won't leave this post for long. (You know about social media comments and how people react) Thanks. *Tlangval : Unmarried Man *Papui : Married man

I didnt know that Rose is a native American.So beautiful.Your baby is sooooo adorable.And please Rose, dont take it to heart that Mizo people address you as Sap,because i think majority of the Mizos arent aware of the hardships that the indigenous had to go through and are still going through, in today's day and time,in America.Its just a generalized word for people who arent either brown skin(other Asian countries) or black and who have lighter skin whether they'd be Americans, British,Aussies,Kiwis,Canadians etc.We are still learning about the other cultures as we are a very close knitted society and havent ventured out much,among the other countries of the world,yet.We'll get there..we promise.😊Thank you Kip, for this interview, too.Its always refreshing to watch your contents.😊

From my grandmother's perspective, they hadn't had much contact with outsiders during their time. Among the few groups she acknowledges are the British, Burmese, Desi, Japanese, Chinese, German and Arabic-Muslim. Her view is that the Pale skin-British and Germans are "sap" Dark/brown skin-Africans as "Midum hai" Japanese are referred to as "Japan hai" Chinese as "China hai" Arab-Muslim as "Mosalman" Burmese as "Kawl" Desi people primarily from the Indian subcontinent are called "Vais" Jews as "Israel hai" All I can say at the moment is that "SAP" is positive for her. I won't lie, most of us here still consider sap to be of a higher class. British imperialism was responsible for shaping this mentality.

Didn't realise Rose was native american. She looked caucasian to me, and most probably to most of my mizo brethren. If someone looks white/caucasian to us, they're "sap" to us without a second thought. Black people are referred to as "negroes" widely, but the more politically correct "midum" is gaining popularity. Native americans are still referred to as "red indians" as far as i know.

The popular Mizo KZbinr "Tuesday Nightmare" married a black guy from Africa, trust me, the bullies and racial slurs they faced every day are heartbreaking. Thank you Rose for saying what needs to be said

Not "all" Mizos. I think it depends on the level of exposure of the person. The Welsh missionaries (who brought Christianity to Mizoram) contributed a lot to the "sap" appreciation to this day. Also, black people in India are constantly having connections with drug/human trafficking and hence the misconception and mistreatment. Anywho racism in all forms is inexcusable and unacceptable period

Okey i just realise Rose is a native American. Rose, its kinda hard for us mizo to not mentioned you as Sap. By the way its not in a bad way. The thing is that we literally called the westerners with fair skinned as Sap, not to be the British royals or the English people. Sap actually have to do with skin tone indeed. But when i found out your problem being called sap/ white i actually like it. And you mentioning why the blacks from America arent called white. Yes, it have to do with the looks again as i mentioned the skin tone. But being you as a true Native American tribe, i am really touched that you bothered being called Sap cos in your mind it have to do with the priveleged groups of white people where you belong. But as aforementioned, calling sap has nothing to do with class or profile its just a person looks based on skin colour and i am sad just because you happened to be fair skinned that you are called sap, white you are definitely not apart of them. I would have to say sorry for the rest of our Mizo community. Have a blessed life here. Love from Lawngtlai. So i will tell and educate people i know not to ever call you sap again, because you are not. Thank you finally for telling us.
