Thank you so much for this video. Watching you create a rich and multidimensional background was so instructive. And the vase! Or "vahze" - lol. Your accidental introduction of blue created such an amazing color. I always learn something when I watch your videos but this one was just especially instructive for me. I will probably watch it multiple times. Thank you very much.

Very beautiful painting. I tried to work after you but de result was insatisfied for me. i worked in oil, and oil is,nt facile in your method. i will try again but in acrylics this time. Thank you for tyour lessons. I follow your lessons for some time but only now i decidet to practice. HAPPY New Year to you & your family!
@JansenArtEducation2 жыл бұрын
If you paint in oils you have to change some of the color progressions and techniques I use. Remember not all acrylics are the same. There are many older ones that can not do these types of techniques.

You didn't use any extender in this painting correct? I love the casual look of this. TY learning so much.
@JansenArtEducation2 жыл бұрын
I premixed the about 20% extender into the paint in those little cups. Sometimes I do this. So the paints have a slower drying time.
@maried77762 жыл бұрын
@@JansenArtEducation Thank you!

Do you add anything to your paints to thicken them up or they straight out of the tubes? I bought your acrylic paint and it’s a bit thin. Do I add something to them?
@JansenArtEducation2 жыл бұрын
Mostly I paint straight from the tube. A few time I will thicken the paint with our thickening medium. It take just a drop. The paints in this video I put in small cups, then mix about 20% extender then let some of the water evaporate out. They thicken a little by doing that. Most of the time though I use the color straight from the tube. Depends on the techniques I want to use.
@thelacycottage58262 жыл бұрын
This is so beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing these. They are not only educational but peaceful. Is this done in acrylics? If it was, how did your paints not dry out on your palette? My liquitex paints dry in 10 minutes and any added medium seems to thin the pigment.
@JansenArtEducation2 жыл бұрын
Acrylic are very different from each other. Some are made to dry fast and some are made to dry slow. I have been a paint chemist for 35 years and can tell you we make different types. Yes, this is Heritage Acrylics. A 2K acrylic that you control the drying time.
@sylvieepinat60242 жыл бұрын
I have a question I have started painting with acrylics since I have been watching your videos since I paint with oil.Do you use extender every time you take paint on your brush or just for the back ground.Also do you spray water to prevent your paint from drying.Thank you for your answer you’re a great teacher.
@JansenArtEducation2 жыл бұрын
Very rarely do I spray water. I premix extender in the acrylics I use. This however doesn't work with all acrylics since acrylics are very different from each other. You have to change depending on the acrylics you use.

You cannot help but being an oil artist. I lovw the style, but I am not sure I can achieve this in acrylics without all these mediums and extenders.
