She lived In a cult and was left alone with Harvey Winestine. Her admitting to willingly get in that hot tub and regrets it, doesn't make anything that happened in that hot tub consensual! This is why her than manager killed herself, she knows she failed. She knows she twist the meaning of words to Winestine in that email. And the managers family blames Rose! They should blame the rapist if anyone. Rose, get it. And she's been through much more than most celebrity. And she's still alive. What she's saying about America and what we see as normal, not being normal is the most truth I've seen spoken in one place! Our prison system is breaking our banks, our education system is a joke, the middle class is still shrinking, our press has been suffering, propaganda is rampant, mass shooting monthly, opioid od's is a top 10 killer, opioid crises, our nation is sick. Our Ppl are sick.

Everything she said is literally true. Sometimes you just have to think a little bit outside of the box to understand what she is actually saying. I think she understands reality without glorification or anything else. I truly believe that it wouldn't even fucking matter if she 'delivered' her message any other way. I think society calling her crazy is not because of her delivery method, it's because she sees things in a different, more reflected way than other people. That makes her 'crazy'. And sometimes we have to bend to understand someone. It's not her fault, that some people 'don't get it', She is being herself and I actually believe that being herself is enough and much more needed in this world. Try to bend, try to listen and understand. If you watch this video with an open mind, I'll bet you'll get it.

Although I see what people are saying, still, I was able to follow her and understand perfectly her points. I think people are so caught up in her being in a "crisis" they miss her message. Im not saying people should follow her and make her their leader, rather just hearing her out, and not letting you being uncomfortable block you from some potentially valid points.

I agree. I think the problem here is she’s a bit too fond of a metaphor, and Colbert (who’s genuinely one of the quickest comediens out there when it comes to an improvised joke) isn’t as good as Fallon or Conan at rephrasing or repeating things to make sure his guests are accurately getting their point accross. That entire exchange about ‘Courage Street’ is a great example. It’s obvious McGowan was first speaking about a literal street to make a jokey anecdote, but then that gets completely lost as Colbert digs further into it as a metaphor.

Allison Raffel Uhh, if her shit floats your boat then sure why not. But to me shes not anymore sane than a person whos fucked up by drugs and sees the "truth" by complaining about society and the govt. She talks about "why we have to wear suits?", yet its same thing as "why she did she shave her head just to show shes a feminist?". She talks about india being colorful and better, yet she doesnt realize india is full of religious cults that support honor killings of women. ffs. They probably thought she was an alien there. And Harvey weistein is disgraced now because hollywood agencies turned against him. It was damage control. What he did was bad but it was a known secret within Hollywood. But for real tho, just go to a bar and talk to anyone whos having a beer and you'll get the same "wisdom" as this bullshit.

Douglas Rau maybe because he had another guest and she was all over the place during the interview the entire time. When it comes to commercial breaks, he has to end abruptly is she is going to rant because ads pay for the show. Hardly anyone could have handled this interview with as much tact and grace as Colbert because the amount of patience it took me just to get through it, not being involved at all in the interviewer's position, is overwhelming

She's unhinged and utterly desperate by the fact that her looks have faded and her acting career never really took off on account of her not really being that great of an actor, hence here we are... She probably also holds a lot of deep regrets on things she did to try and work her way to the top and wants to shift some of that blame away from herself for the sake of her own conscience. She still can't help but zip that hoodie right down to her cleavage line though.. Old habbits I guess.

I empathize with Rose, I am sad that she has been demeaned and defeated by the machine that is Hollywood hush money systems.... She has an incredible message, but she is so incoherent. I hope she receives help for her mental health, results of her innocence being taken away at a young age. She constantly looks like she is one thin string from completely breaking. Every interview I see of hers, she just makes little to no sense. This is part of the problem with her stpry, her message is an important and legitimate one. But her delivery is a mess.... And I don't wish to bring her down. More than once, she has trusted, and been harmed, and this is the result. She actually is a good spokesperson, in a way, for sexual assault victims. Because it ruins you. Emotionally and mentally. But people break her down, because she is struggling so much. If she came flat out saying, "I am still broken, I am still struggling," then she would be held on a pedestal. Instead, she is beaten down still by people who have the luxury of not understanding what sexual assault does to you. It destroys you. These people destroy you. And perpetuating this cycle, this society, are those who look down on victims struggling to come to terms with life again, which can take an entire lifetime to do. Refuting or refusing someone's story because the delivery is a mess, is precisely why these men, and the women helping them cover it up, continue to get away with it. We are more accepting of a poignant liar than we are of a hurting woman.

I wrote this earlier and copied here: "This is what people are like when they are scapegoats. I've seen it several times. All prickly and defensive, especially when speaking their truth. I can imagine the chemical whiplash in her head from all the emotions must be intense. The most intense being the negative emotions. Describing her internal struggle through the movies she listed is probably apropos." All forms of abuse have similar end results. Starting out in a cult and then dealing with all the abuse Hollywood can throw at you is the reason she's like this. I want to help people understand the effects of trauma and abuse. What almost everyone here doesn't seem to understand is that you're looking at it. This is what happens to people.

I love Rose and I don't think anyone in Hollywood is as hellbent as telling the truth as she is. She's at the point where you are just DONE because she's witnessed so many cover ups and lying and systematic deceit and people gaslighting her - now it's like she's not going to hold anything back or protect anyone. She just has a very clear view of the absolute insanity and injustice in our society and I really feel her fury. I think this makes her very confrontational now because she is SO honest beyond the point of social norms, and that (plus what the media says) makes it easy for people to categorise her as unhinged and unstable but it's just like Stephen said in the interview - what she was saying seemed wild but it was completely valid.

Great comment! I agree 100% And I think that Rose and Asia Argento have been so crucial to protecting the Weinstein affair from sanitization by those who would rather have clear-cut, perfect victims willing to speak out about Weinstein but prepared to shut up about the machinery behind him and the ugly side of the industry/ pop culture/ the media/ society.

That she didn't and hasn't been trying to stop him and the culture that's continued to let such things happen to so many women and men is completely false. That he STILL hasn't been arrested, with the ever growing number of credible accusers speaks volumes to that. Not to mention, to say when someone should (or can) speak out about such things is completely absurd. You can't speak for what everyone goes through; the fear, doubt, disgust, guilt, etc etc etc.. not to mention the many, that like Rose, who DID/HAVE come forward and were ignored. For anyone to say "they should've came out sooner" is disgusting. You have no idea what each person has gone and goes through, or have what they've done/tried/said.

Because she knows there's thousands of girls out there just like her and they don't get their stories told on national television they suffer in silence, and she wants to do it for everybody. We're all in the same boat together, and she knows that. And she is brave because while some suffer in silence some come forward and are told they are liars and crazy and to shit up and that is a whole other kind of unimaginable alienation.

So funny how the edited segment of this interview that was shown in her own show, Citizen Rose, really makes it seem like their whole segment was so uncomfortable when, in fact, I think Colbert was very much inside his comfort zone the whole time. It's hard to get her if you just watch small clips. I highly recommend her book. It's a very good read and after reading it you would definitely understand where she's coming from. The reality show gives you a glimpse too but as reality shows go they do focus a lot on the drama of her stress promoting the book and it may leave you feeling she's unstable and I really think she's very centered considering everything she's gone and is going through.

There's an important distinction between #TimesUp/#MeToo and #RoseArmy... one of those centers ENTIRELY on an individual and that individuality is what motivates her every move. Did you all notice the line where she claims, "I'm the architect." Her movement centers on herself which is why many potential high-profile allies distanced themselves from her. This doesn't mean she isn't "Brave." It's just that she's using other people's bravery to boost her own sales. Look at all the deals she got this year alone: a book, a reality TV series, and a musical album coming out. She's riding this wave... WHICH IS FINE, I suppose. But, it should make it difficult for other people to find strength in her testimony. She diminishes the universality of the movement.

She is way off in your face. No one will be taking her seriously in the way she acts. Rose you took the money then payments stop and this started. Not saying it did not happen to you. My biggest concern is this; You have not made a movie since forever, People forgot who who you are, Why are you not focussed on the kids that get abused but rather you want the world to look at you. Questionable you are

She laughs about paedophilic movies and likes violence in movies - her words not mine ! Why is she not talking about children in the line of fire seeing she is aware of it ! Now she calls herself the brave one wtf massive lie that is ! So intelligent she is she has never heard the story of Jesus or read the bible, what a clown head up her own ass. You my dear are so in the front line of sheep exactly the place she needs you to be

If you watch this a few more times, it"s less awkward actually. She didn't mean to be rude to him ( she even said "not you" after the khaki pants comments). Clearly, she still has still a lot of anger in her from what has happened and that shows in her way of acting and talking but who can blame her?

Christine Kelly yeah well that weed was laced with something else then. I definitely think she uses heavier drugs. Especially since she’s not ALWAYS like this in interviews. This isn’t her natural personality in all it’s glory- I’ve seen interviews with Rose where yes she’s definitely “different” and outspoken, but she’s not flat out erratic and making zero sense like she is here. When she’s sober(ish?), she’s actually very articulate.

What exactly are we meant to be listening for?? Ive listened twice now and the best I can get out of that conversation is that men are horrible because they wear suits, and we should be more like india, because there its colourful, and if we do, we might live longer. Does she realise how bad the rape rate is in India and the life expectancy is probably one of the worst in the world. But yeah she's clearly onto something.....

MoronSoldier Instead of trying to insult someone because they have a different opinion than you, why don't you take your own advise and actually do some research. Those statistics only show REPORTED cases, and there have been several reports in the last decade showing only 5-6% are reported in India. Have you not seen the numerous articles and protests regarding the crisis the country is facing regards rape/sexual assault of women? And as said above that's without getting into the caste system. At no point have I mentioned religion or race, so take your anti-white agenda somewhere else. Your username is very fitting.

Fish N Chips I lost three friends in college to overdose, 1 to heroine, 2 to opioid painkillers. Rose McGowen is NOT on drugs, she has PTSD like I do from the rape I experienced- her mind is fragmented. She’s actually making a lot of sense in terms of the substance of what she has to say, but the way she’s expressing it is super confusing and weird for most people.
