I'd bet money that the second they turned the camera off after this interview Pat started an argument with Rose. Most of us have heard rumors about their relationship, I never gave it much thought before now but Pat really does seem unhinged here. It makes for an unsettling interview. He was trying not to show how hard it was for him to let Rose interject with her own opinions & feelings about her performance, but his annoyed, dismissive attitude was written all over him. His expressions & demeanor when she spoke hinted towards him feeling as though what she says doesn't hold the same weight as him. Like her take on things is inaccurate & she's wasting the time he has to tell us the important facts. I think a part of him was worried that she might speak her mind too much & start contradicting him. I get that it was "his" interview, but dude needs to chill out. The way he fought her for the limelight was like he saw her as more of an opponent than a partner. Strange, unhealthy lookin dynamic.

Either you are completely obsessed with defending someone you don't know or the negative comments are personal to you. Either way, you can clearly see controlling behaviour displayed in mutiple moments of this interview and it's relatively scary being completely honest. at one point he even asked her to leave the room so he could be the focus of attention without a distraction. Also another interesting thing to notice, is how openly he talked about her childhood abuse. That was something relatively typical of an narcissistic controller also. Ariel is a world class interviewer. He setup Pat here beautifully. Silence from the interviewer provides the best opportunity for the interviewee to talk themselves into a big old mess and all their BS quickly unravels. In this interview, Pat spends most of his time convincing himself that he believes what he's saying, whilst thinking he's convincing others', when in actual fact all he's doing is convincing the world he's controlling every aspect of Rose's life. Pat talks in circles constantly contradicting himself. He should have just admitted that the corner gave Rose bad advice after every round. It was up to them to motivate her and at least try to remove any and all fear she had against engaging with Carla. Rose pretty much said that they had her only practicing defense in training camp. That’s why she was afraid to go right at Carla . Also it was weird that Pat was worried about what Rose would say in the interview. Maybe he has too much control at home and in the octagon.

He never realized that by having a singular plan and not adapting dynamically, helped instill fear when things didn't go the way they thought it would.
