Saw Rosemary Clooney at Boston's Symphony Hall with my 8 or 9 year old daughter and my parents. We were seated in the 2nd row, having bought tickets at the last minute, just after the VIP tickets were released. At intermission an usher approached me, handed me a note from Ms. Clooney which said my daughter was gorgeous and if I wanted to bring my family back stage she would see us before receiving anyone else. I told the usher yes and after the last number we scooted backstage. Ms. Clooney made a beline for my daughter, put her on her knew, told her she didn't have any grandchildren that young anymore. My Dad's jaw was on the floor, in the same room with Rosemary Clooney. She couldn't have been nicer, spent about 10 minutes with us. A memory I will never forget. RIP dear lovely lady.

I was 19 years old, and tapped to play 4th trumpet in the pit orchestra for 4 Girls 4 with these lovely women at Akron Ohio’s EJ Thomas hall, as they toured The Kenley Players circuit that year. At the close of our week, these 4 gracious ladies made a uniquely kind and (obviously) memorable gesture. They insisted on hosting the band and crew for cake and coffee backstage! And, instead of having it served by others or having us serve ourselves, they insisted on serving us!

There's nothing like this anymore .. there is no one like this anymore .... what a treasure. I first fell in love with Helen on all the Jimmy Dorsey recordings I got hold of. Her and Bob Eberle (who was brother of Ray Eberle, singer with Glenn Miller).

Saw Four Girls Four at Warwick Musical Theater. That night the oldest of the 3, Helen O'Connell both looked and sounded the best. Great entertainment.

I'm just watching this and I'm still in Rosie singin' "But Beatiful". I don't need to see more. She was so awesome... What a reading of the song! She was a masterful vocalist. My only complain is the quality of the rip with some noise distorsions. But so glad you've posted this. Thanks! BTW: such a pity the Four Girls concerts never get a proper edition

What an amazing show. Mike Douglas was easily the best, most talented host the business ever knew. THIS was one of the best assemblages of talent he ever hosted, and he hosted them all. I'm sure I didn't see this when I was 17 but better late than never. Oh, and the song by Rosemarie was incredible. And, Margaret Whiting sang like it was the first day of her career. STILL love her music.

Mike Douglas, what a show. The quality. There’s such junk on daytime tv now. Rosy Clooney that voice and phrasing, unique. And the piano accompaniment, wow! Thank you for this.

I recall working with Clooney, Whiting, O'Connell and Kay Starr on a PBS special after they wrapped up a tour with 4 Girls 4. Margaret Whiting couldn't stand Helen O'Connell, we were instructed to keep O"Connell away from Whiting during the taping. Whiting greatly enjoyed socializing with Clooney and Starr after each day's recording.

Rose Marie is the only one there alive today. Mike Douglas, David Brenner, Rosemary Clooney, Margaret Whiting and Helen O'Connell have all died since 1979 when this show was recorded.

Tom Snyder had these women on the old "Tomorrow Show" - that was one of the best shows that I'd ever seen on Television. They sat around remininscing and it was hilarious. I don't think Rose Marie was the original members. It's great to see them.

Yeah - I looked it up. I don't know why I thought it was someone else. That was a great clip with Mike Douglas. Boy! If you could find that Tom Snyder show - that truly was the funniest thing ever. You get a sense of how they played off each other here.

Poor Rosemary Clooney.. this video shows the start of the deterioration of her voice after too many cigarettes, pills and booze... she and Judy had that in common... God rest both their souls.

I was about to say the same thing. You can hear traces of her former magic, but it was quickly evaporating, as time and weight quickly came. I love her recordings from the 1950's, but in the 1970's onward, I felt so sorry for her, and I just can't watch how things happened.

I thought of Judy hearing those girls too. Margaret whiting's voice reminds me a lot of MGM Judy... The velvet timbre is very similar to my ears. Just think if she'd had the support and help she needed she could have been up there with grey hair and sounding as magnificent as Margaret. Still, we were lucky to have her for as long as we did.

Well, some of us that have enjoyed the lady Concord output couldn't disagree more with you. Her voice can deteriorate but the knowledge make her better than ever. Of course is my personal opinion but I'm pretty sure there are some more out there that thinks the same
