William Castle was the producer and originally wanted to direct the film. It's funny to think how drastically different and kitschy it would have been had not given the picture to Roman Polanski.

This is honestly a masterpiece in my opinion, probably top 5 horror films of all time. I have the Criterion which I think looks excellent, but I still plan on picking this up since it sounds like the picture is a decent upgrade. Sort of a shame about the audio though

My worry, whether unfounded or not (as I have no evidence to back this up), is the the omitted line is a revisionist “sanitizing” of content. I envision someone deciding it’s not PC to say “We happen to be in labor here,” as no, technically “We” were not in labor, Rosemary was. I hope that’s not what’s happening here, because that is a very insidious thing to do, altering art as such.

I had the out-of-sync audio issue. My player is a Reavon UBR-X100. First disc I've played that had this issue.

The voice audio did go out of sync for me early in the film but with a scene restart it held for the rest of the movie. Sony UPB-X700.

I've got the same player for two years now and it has played all discs flawlessly at least on video side, though I too have had problems with audio/video synch and it seems to pop up more on 4k discs. But I don't think it's the player per se, but my soundbar not shaking hands well with the player. At least the player has the a/v synch adjustment control that fixes the issue, but a pain to have to use it while trying to get immersed in a film.

I think it did have a little DNR with the chroma noise being wiped out. Wasn't necessary either so now there is less texture. I'll wait for a sale or just skip it. Pretty sure nobody cares about the slip for this one hah!!

I have the sync issue as well with a Sony 4k UBP X800 M2. Also, I think the transfer looks ok, but certainly not a-. I would give the picture transfer a b, and the sound a c-. Then with the dreadful packaging, they truly have not done this film the justice it deserves!

I absolutely love this movie, but I am skipping the 4K as I have the Blu-ray. Sometimes I upgrade and sometimes I don’t. Not convinced this upgrade is worth it.

Well, there’s at least one audio issue here (that may or may not be a deal breaker), so unfortunately, however minute issues may be, an occasional one still pops up with Paramount from time to time.

Absolutely awful artwork there. It's like they looked at those fan concepts you see on Facebook groups and thought 'people think that stuff is cool'. The original poster art is amazing. Even if they'd reworked it a bit, better than the new slip cover.

Why complain about a transfer that was soft to begin with? You can't improve on the look of the movie if you reproduce it on 4k as an accurate depiction of the original look... Otherwise you're getting into T2 territory.
