Chills in “crushed like a bug” game when he said “there’s a funny line…I’m sac’ing a queen.” And then the next series of moves takes back initiative, balances out material, and evens out time odds

30:25 if I had this position in a game with either side I would probably just resign, it would give me such a migraine to try and find moves in that clump.

Thanks for the long video Eric . Your book recommendations are great . I got two awesome books from your reading list "Chess queens" by Jennifer Shahade and "All the wrong moves" by Sasha Chapin . Now will definitely check out "Stolen focus" by Johann Hari . Hope to see a whole video on your book recommendations someday 🙂 . Thanks again .

Really well played against Levy.😊And the fact that your ability to absolutely stay calm, force structures on board that suit you, make strong players fear a stalemate even when they are up so many pawns is....worth acknowledgeding.Really hope to see you become a GM someday [if you want to become one that is] Congratulations...Rooting for you to win the entire championship.✌️

Hey mate, started to watch your vids to help with memory issues for combat injuries and then started to checkout your background and what not. If I may offer this opinion: you may not think pursuing the GM title may be worthwhile, but I absolutely believe you should do it. Kinda like an Engineer with a MBA who doesn’t continue on to get the PhD; while not necessary to progress, the act of setting that goal and attaining it, the struggles and lessons along the way, then earning your place in the history books, that legacy has to be worth some consideration. If I get a vote, I vote LETS GO! Much love and thanks for the content.

I’m in no way qualified to judge Eric’s ability level. but if he does not already possess GM skill than he might not be pursuing it bc he knows its a lost cause. I do believe hard work and goal setting beats out “talent” 99 out of 100 times. But when you get to the master level everybody around you has essentially hit the limit out of how far you can progress by sheer will power. we’re talking like top 0.01% of players (or at least around that range) Then to go from IM to GM at his age (basically any age above 25) you’re basically trying to say “ok I know I already put in my 10,000 hours (maybe even 30,000 or more) and ok I know Ive already developed my memory to near the human limit, and ok Ive spent hundreds of hours memorizing thousands of opening lines, and ok I am better than 99.99% of the population but now I want to push myself to become 2-3x stronger than I am now. At the absolute peak of competition talent comes back and rears its head. There just isnt much else you can do past a certain point. And if thats the case why fight a losing battle when you can be thankful for the fruits of your labor, enjoy the talent you were blessed with and enjoy the game you’ve devoted your life to for the sake of the game itself. Granted idk Eric’s story and maybe he really is GM level but I see this sentiment a lot with other IM personalities and honestly I think most of them are happy to live a comfortable life doing what they love. All I’ll add is that I’m in no way implying that if you have some kind of disadvantage that you cant reach competitive levels at whatever it is you do. I think anybody can set their mind to becoming top 10% if not top 1% at whatever they decide to. You only start to hit a roadblock that cant be destroyed with time a couple of standard deviations after that. Good luck on your recovery ❤️🩹

In a “close the loop” karma-style reunion, GM Sam Shankland would be your study buddy/tutor and help you see it through. I think you’ve got the talent, you just need the drive, gotta really want it.
