Neat game, I really appreciate the more in-depth analysis. I actually had a similar opening OTB once with e6 Qf7, although it was out of the Bayonet Attack rather than the Two Knights. Coincidentally, my opponent was also around 1450, although I won pretty quickly because my opponent missed a backwards queen move to clear the f7 square, threatening a triple knight fork.

at 12:45 is there (white to play) knight takes d5, knight takes d5, bishop takes d5, pawn takes d5, rook takes e7, king b8, rook takes g7?
@Posic_9 ай бұрын
That's a blunder because black can take the knight with the pawn but close one because bxd5 is correct since bxd5 whatever black take with there's knight take d5. I have to note that after your knight take and pawn take, if bishop takes there's knight take bishop that protect e7
@Gooodmorningdog9 ай бұрын
works at 12:17, but if Nxd5 black can respond with cxd5 (piece for a pawn), Nxd5, Nxd5, and black's knight guards e7. however, Bxd5 is the same tactic but works since it opens the vision of our rook on the e file and if cxd5 we just fork on e7 and if Nxd5 we respond with Nxd5+ cxd5 and then can fork on e7 :D

I'm really interested in how you analyze your games. How did you later see this idea of Bd5? Did you just spot it during the review on your own? Was the engine pointing it out? I don't see things like this during my reviews. I don't gain the same learning from reviews.

I was wondering about the nuances about whether to play 2. Nf3 or 2. Nc3. I know that Fischer used to like the 2 Knights Attack and I think he always played the latter. For example, you don't know 100% that black wants to play the Caro. If he played say the Modern Defence and you liked f3 systems against that, you'd prefer 2. Nc3
@DicraeoF19 ай бұрын
At 14:50 and other times, when the king moved to C7, wouldn't have bishop takes D5 won a pawn? If the opponent recaptures, you can fork the king and bishop with the rook by taking E7. This tactic was on the board for several moves; I was wondering why you didn't consider it. EDIT: Oh you just mentioned it in the vid. Ha, I'm better than an international master! XD I'm just blundering my pieces a tiny bit more often.

@obscurelines8 ай бұрын
I think Eric is brilliant to watch but he doesn't play chess in a way you'd want a novice or intermediate player to play. It's interesting at the 3 minute mark he's considering a novelty like pawn to e6 or the aggressive G4 because he knows he has the skill to defend his king. A crappy player like myself would absolutely need to privilege king safety ahead of attacking opportunities.

I think you'll agree it was an ugly game but uglier for black, who was fighting confusion and chaos the whole time. Nonetheless, an excellent illustration of how doubled pawns can be a fatal weakness. However, the final mating attack was worth watching.
