This is carnival in Mainz, Germany. The main parade is on what they call in Mainz, Rose-Monday parade and they have almost 2 million visitors and parade volunteers. When I lived there is was the greatest holiday. Mainz Carnival is very famous for their inclusion of the American soldiers, Swiss and other international musical parade contingents. And Mainz Carnival is very famous for their floats of "political satire". They are more famous than the Cologne or Duesseldorf Carnival because of the political content of their floats. They were always very up to date with the political scene not only in Germany, Europe but also with the world.
