@RoseryApparel4 жыл бұрын
If you don’t want to have a zipper you will have to make it oversized so you can put it on. Alternatively, you could put elastic in the waist instead to gather it and synch it in 😊
@fromwordstosounds4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Janelle for the lovely tutorial. Yet, it seems like there's an open gap on the top of the skirt at the back where the serged edge is shown 😅
@rachela30664 жыл бұрын
these are lovely. How do you finish the top edge of the skirt where its not attached to the bodice?
@daisyroe37774 жыл бұрын
It was serged, but you can also zig-zag stitch it. If you don’t want the seams to be left like that you can also finish them with bias tape for an even cleaner look.
@sarahjanewhite29674 жыл бұрын
New sewer here! Question about sleeves, why do some patterns suggest to gather the top of the sleeve before joining it to the bodice? I’m also assuming you don’t need to face if you’re using bias binding? Thank you for helping me understand dressmaking so well!!
@emmasly66194 жыл бұрын
It's because some patterns - including the Rosa Dress pattern - design the sleeve to be a little larger than the opening. It's supposed to help with ease of movement. With finishing curved edges, you use either facing OR bias binding, you wouldn't need to use both. hope that helps :)

Question; I bought some fabric and now I am trying to make a skirt for myself. It’s all going well but I want to add pockets to the 2 side seams of the skirt. So far I am thinking on either adding a *regular side pocket* or an *inseam side pocket* . I know how an inseam side pocket looks like but how does a regular side pocket look like? I am so confused, does it not even exist? As in is it just an inseam pocket that exists for side seams? Please help!

Hi there! Ive just started my sewing journey and I’ve been watching a lot of your videos recently - I want to find out when you place your pattern onto your fabric - are you placing it parallel to the salvage? Does it matter where you place the pattern?

Hi, I have purchased one of your patterns and I am so excited to get started :) However here in South Africa, I am size 8. Looking at measurements I found I am only 8 for the bust and 10 for the waist and 12 for the hips :o What should I do? Thank you for all the lovely videos!
@RoseryApparel2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for purchasing my pattern 🧡 With my patterns you can often ignore the hip measurement because the gathered skirt is super roomy. I recommend making the 10 as it will only be a little bit bigger in the bust x

Hi Janelle, always love your videos and look forward to them. When doing facings, I learned recently to “understitch”. If you KZbin Understitching seams and facings it it will give clear instruction with what I mean.. What a huge difference it makes to dress making. I wish I knew this tip years ago. When you understitch the seams, the facing falls to the wrong side of the garment and makes a sharp edge..it’s brilliant. Check it out. Lorraine :-). PS, I love the tip with the little Bias Binding gadget..will get one of those next time at Spotlight.
