Roses and plant partners

I just looove roses and today I will show you how I plant them together with different plant partners - perennials and scrubs.
I know that many people find it difficult to combine roses with other plants but here I will show you how I do and I also show you some of the plants I'm using.

Since I saw The White Garden at Sissinghurst Castle Garden the first time about 25 years ago, I have been hooked!
In my own garden I have several garden rooms where I'm combining white flowers with silvergrey foliage from perennials, annuals, schrubs and trees.

My name is Claus Dalby, and I live in Risskov on the outskirts of Aarhus in Denmark. To date, I have written about 30 books on flowers and gardens in Danish, and my garden has been featured on many TV shows. In March 2022 my first book in English will be available. I consider my home (built in1908), and its garden with its neighboring wood, as my sanctuary. When I started gardening in 1996, there was just a large lawn covering approximately 1 acre (4,000 square meters), but today the grass is long gone - replaced by 15 hedged rooms with varying colors and moods. Additionally, one of my great passions is growing in pots, arranged to create spectacular container gardens, which I will share quite a bit about on this channel. Decor and creating moods have always interested me - both outside and inside - and I love to use the flowers from my garden for bouquets and to inspire other crafts that create a sense of hygge.

You are such an inspiring person and your enthusiasm for your garden is contagious. It is a feast for the eye. My only regret would be that KZbin cannot convey the heavenly scent of all those roses and peonies. Perhaps I could suggest that you continue with your devine videos in the off season. I am aware that you do floral arranging and Christmas shows in Danish. Would you consider treating your Englush speaking audience to them in English? Surely 'ravishing' is the one word which describes your garden Claus. Some gardeners like to plant shrubs and flowers as islands in wide sea of bare soil: your luxuriant planting must support and protect each perennial, and display others to perfection.

Started with a sunny yard but now the trees have provided too .much shade so I am attempting to move sunny roses and shrubs elsewhere. A big undertaking. Greetings from Florida. Your garden is so beautiful. It's hot and humid with very little rain so I am working hard to keep my plants looking good. Only parts of my garden that get a break from the sun are flowering. My roses are all in large containers and now I want to have some alyssum planted with them. I grow miniature roses in pots on my balcony. I have planted hem with daffodil bulbs, anemone nemorosa (mini wood anemone), violets like viola odorata, mini clover, diathus, campanula. Each plant grows and blooms at a different time and stays small and low to the soil.
