How many times have you had a brilliant idea? A really loud and hard to ignore one, as though your brain were a pot and inside it, a rainbow, just bubbling and gurgling and cooking -- and you got so excited about it that your heart raced as you thumbed notes to yourself in your phone. "I can do this," you probably said.
"But..."
That but is deadly. It halts dreams and squashes imagination.
...But I'm too busy.
...But I'm not good enough.
...But I can't.
We all do it, of course. But, what if you finally ran out of excuses? What if you pulled out your now-dusty notebook and flipped through the pages holding your thoughts and bursts of free association, and then you stared them right in the eye and took them seriously?
Ask Rosie Assoulin, winner of the 2015 CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear, who created her first collection because the pot, finally, boiled over. In this edition of The Chatroom, Leandra speaks to Rosie about this very moment (among other things: being put in boxes, mad libs, "big ass silk faille tops," the usual).
You're almost guaranteed to fall in love with the designer, but where you may find yourself surprised is at how inspired you feel after watching.
