In this step-by-step tutorial, I demonstrate how to make a small pouch with a continuous zipper. The finished pouch is approximately 7" Wide x 5" High x 3" deep. I do give all the cutting measurements in the video and I also go over all the supplies you will need. The construction of the pouch creates a small triangle on the bottom sides. I used 100% cotton quilting fabric for the entire project along with WovenFuse 2 and Decovil Light for interfacings. You will find Timestamps below to help you navigate through the tutorial. I sew the pouch on my Juki DDL 8000A industrial sewing machine, but this project can be made easily on a domestic sewing machine. This is a fast and fun project and I do hope that you will give the pouch a try! Please like and subscribe.

As a novice I've been drawing lines to sew straight. Not sure why it made me smile to see a pro who does the same. I guess I feel it gives me permission to continue marking my lines as long as I want. 😊

VERY pretty pouch. I would have NEVER picked that fabric, yet it looks so good put together like that. The only thing I dislike about the construction, is that tab being left in the bag. WHY do it like that? Having a regular construction of the zipper, would be easier, and better, in my opinion.

You do an excellent job explaining each step. Thank you so much for doing this video. I do have a question. When doing the final stitching of the binding, how do you keep the double sided tape from gumming up your needle? I used 1/8” double sided tape (by Annie’s)on a recent project and it crossed my side seams. Just two stitches across it gummed up my needle instantly.

Watch the part of the video where I am clipping the zipper in place. When I get to the seam, you will see that I talk about the zipper tape coming to a 45 degree angle and the end of the zipper with the tab is down in the pouch. You can leave the zipper tail down in the pouch or pull it up and out of the pouch after sewing the zipper and binding in place. I hope this helps.

@@karenfranceslewis1513 The interfacing possibly. I have wonderful fabric but I don't want to make it too thick with possibly wrong filament inside. Depending on what fabric you are using and the fact that you might have to interface it would be more expensive than waxed canvas. But, I made myself one out of my son’s old jeans and I love it!
