A John Cena heel turn in 2012 would’ve been an event of seismic proportions. The storylines and promos alone would’ve been the stuff of legends. He can play the babyface just fine, but I know for a fact 2012 Heel Cena would’ve been top 3 best iterations of his character, if not the very best

I somewhat understand where Vince was coming for older wrestling fans hated the Character but for younger fans he was a real lifer hero. Imagine if during you childhood you loved Superman but one week Superman just starts killing and bullying everyone it ruins the character for a kid. And the make a wish foundation wouldn’t work well either during that time to many wrestlers were face but children wanted John Cena. He was a Hero and Patent when some didn’t have that. He was for the military remember when Austin Turned Heel it didn’t work.

I remember when Roman beat Samoa Joe in a backlash PPV, people immediately walked out of their seats after the bell rang 😂😂😂... I wish they turned him heel earlier. Though, one guy that I hated with their booking was Brock Lesnar. I hated how his every match was just title matches after he killed super Cena, which made him winning MITB, RR and EC ZERO sense because he getting title matches without earning them anyway... But what I hated the most (apart from the unlawful squash of Kofi) was when he wouldn't show up and just hold the title hostage. Which might not be as bad considering it's the universal title and no one wanted to see that ketchup belt (correct me if I'm wrong about that one).

Here's what I will say with jinder he was treated as a jobber and therefore wasn't given a real chance to craft a moveset for his wwe title run. I think if they built jinder up on smackdown by being US Champ first give him more time to work and make a moveset it would be more acceptable winning the wwe title. They threw jinder at the deep end and expected him to float with a weight on him. He was done dirty and I do think the fans can be overly harsh but he was booked out of nowhere. I'm a jinder fan and he does seem like a nice guy

John Cena was the WWE's last resort with superstar power in their image; by 2004/5, the idea was already set: Batista can try to match Cena, Orton is better as a heel & Brock ain't coming back soon. Then Batista left in 2010 and Cena was their biggest breadwinner until 2016 meaning his merchandise sold the most; that includes his t-shirts, sweatbands and replica spinner belts which were mostly bought for children. If Cena turned heel in 2012 then all those sales would drop as well as ratings probably and there was no babyface or heel that brought in money like Cena. Brock's return didn't generate as much sales as it did views and even then he was part-time like The Rock, Daniel Bryan's Yes movement just started that year, CM Punk was a great anti-babyface but he still wasn't getting as much traction as Cena so they had to stick with him staying babyface to keep their bottom line afloat.
