He was also heavily booed at both ECW One Night Stand shows in 2005 and 2006. Rey was a WCW guy in the 90s and was in ECW only for a very short time, so the ECW fans booed the shit out of Rey.

(Off-Topic) WWE in 2017 literally broke me and Roman being Number 30 was one of the main reasons and if that’s not enough, they have Roman eliminate Bray Wyatt which drove me Over The Edge (No Pun Intended) because Wyatt was my pick to win and he was SO close and this Bulletproof Vest Wearing, Jason Momoa Looking MF comes out here ruining my enjoyment for the 2017 Rumble. And it didn’t even matter that Orton won, I was still pissed. And To This Day, if I see a PPV around the time Roman was a Face and I hear Michael Cole say “Here Comes The Big Dog!!!” I violently punch the air like Cuba Gooding Jr. from Boys In The Hood.

Poor Rey I still feel horrible to this day, I was mad it wasn’t Daniel Bryan but when it was Rey I was upset but I didn’t wanna boo Rey and I couldn’t bring myself to do it, he’s one of my favourites of all time and it wasn’t even his fault either. When i saw the mega boos for Rey then that’s when I got the true understanding of being caught in the crossfire meant because I knew it was saying but I’ve never actually seen it play out until then

Yeah, he really didn’t. WWE clearly should’ve known at the time that if they were gonna choose anybody else besides Daniel Bryan at the number 30 spot it was gonna be disastrous for that particular person and Rey unfortunate paid the price for it.

I don’t understand why the Rey one got so much hate, because if Daniel Bryan was 30, we would not have just amazing opener at wrestlmaina, and have such a dramatic and amazing storytelling on the wrestlemaina miracle and made the moment so much better. If Danial was in the rumble and won we would’ve just gotten a normal 1v1 with Randy. So I’m happy that Rey was 30.

If we knew Daniel would get his chance I wouldn't have booed Rey but it felt like Daniel's Rumble to win and to get snubbed of him not even being in it. Was more of a okay number 30 is coming out let's go Brian. Then like wait what not him, boo. Then forcing a Part Timer on us for a main event we know the outcome to bc he can't win with his other priorities. Lots of bad things was happening but im just glad they listened to the people and gave Daniel a chance.

Please don’t get me started about that awful main event at Mania 32.

I think there's a time and place. Use a wrestler as a proxy for a feud? thats fine, but they were just doing their job like Vince was. They are now signed to your company, its up to you to capitalize on any fans who might come over to see their guy in a new home. Pettiness for the sake of reminding people they lost is horrible business. Instead of building up new stars Vince spent time making them look like crap diluting his own roster.
