What a stupid allegation, of course pedals don't make you play better but you get different sounds through them and they serve lots of purposes. Any particular person may need some kind of pedal, it's a choice. Music is for pleasure not for rules. And you don't need to be a guitar god to enjoy yourself or prove something to other people.

Saw them last month & it was so cool to hear the Manowar classics with ROSS: he plays the songs 100 times better than all the guitar players that tried to replace him. Joey needs to go out on top with a tour including Ross, but if not the RTB band is better than the current Manowar & I cannot wait to see them again.

I disagree with Ross on the pedal bit, I agree with him when he said, it doesn’t make you play better, but depending on the situation or how a song is written, I feel like you would need a pedal or 2. Not saying that you should go out and and buy like 15 pedals, you don’t need that much. But in the end, it should always be down to how good the guitarist is, and the energy of the venue at the time.

There is room for everybody, pedals or not, it's all part of the fun and joy guitarists get while playing. I prefer to rely on the gain and eq of the amp, I just don't like to spend much time on an amp only to end up using a 100$ pedal to help my 1500$ achieve the tones I get, but I'm no way saying that it's bad or stupid to use pedals, that's again part of the fun journey of tone chasing.
