I have the same rifle, except in 357 magnum. It was a booger to load. Then I watched a few videos on YT, and found out how to make it better. I opened the magazine tube, and cut the spring even with the end of the tube. Then, I took apart the receiver, and took off the loading gate, and took JUST a little of the bend out of it. I also sanded the edges on the loading gate all the way around. Now, it's a breeze to load, and YES, ALL the rounds get fed into the chamber, including the very last one. If you haven't already, look up some video who show it.

I must've got hot lucky, mine is perfect, action is super smooth, loading gate is smooth, no sharpe edges, easy to load, will even hold an extra round (the say 9+1 but mine will hold 10+1) no defects, etc. Very happy with mine after 2 years of owning/shooting and found a great deal on ammo, got 400rds of 300gr flat points for less than $300

@@back-woods I'm very happy with mine too, even when it was harder to load. The action was ALWAYS smooth, though, but a little tinkering, and it's easy to load as well. But it's my favorite gun.

You have to cycle the lever about 1000 times for the metal parts to "marry" into each other, grease and wipe away the metal fragments over and over, and I put 10 rounds in the thing and one stuffed in the dust cover and then left it like that for a few days. It helped a lot. Also dont forget to take a screw driver and check every screw, I have to constantly tighten screws. Yay... its a rossi...

I have that rifle in blued finish, I had to do a lot of work on my rifle to get it to cycle, also worked on the loading gate, the magazine elevator, and shimmed the trigger to get a lighter trigger pull. You have an exceptional piece of wood in your stock, very pretty.

Yeah I have tried an blued version earlier and yes it had all the issues you mentioned but still it's a keeper

I have had this gun for maybe6 years. I do hand load for it with the Hornady bullets. I have had a problem with recoil and the red dot, had to use red locktight to hold it on. It is all you should want for deer. You can destroy some meat with it if your not careful. The thing i like about it most is the weight of the gun. I also like the 454 Casull round.

Lever actions loose screws, Marlin, Winchester, Henry, and Rossi, it's the design technology. I use soft setting loctite on all screws on my lever guns. It solves the problem.

I have the same one but with a 16" barrel. At the time, no sling studs were attached so I had my gunsmith made that addition. I also removed the bolt "safety" and have a stainless plug in it (I forget where I got it). My wife calls it "her" rifle as she has used it to kill a gopher snake ("think you used enough dynamite there Butch?"). We live in the mountains and bear can be a problem so we keep this one handy! And if she needs to defend the home............. THIS will do it!

Yeah i have seen one with safety removed with stainless pin plugged in, and sure to snakes it is overkill, lol, an 16" or 18" 20 gauge can also come handy for that purpose

454 is great to reload for you should get into it if you haven't yet. way cheaper

You did well, nice video. I have the 44 mag in the 16 inch. It too kicks a little , but it's so tiny it's like or feels like you're carrying a "Daisy"" bb. gun around. But she drops deer like flop and drop, DEAD...!!! After getting the 44 in 16 inch, I gave up on owning the 454. Sometimes they are super hard to find, even used ones. You shot that gun very well. I'd keep that gun if I were you. A gun that shoots that good should be kept. Sometimes they shoot great ,most times not so much. Take my advice that's a keeper. I liked the video . Peace.

Nice gun, I'd love to try one. Really need to watch, that rifle was locked with a live round in the chamber and safety off while you were walking around checking targets and chronograph....

... you've got to full stroke cycle that lever aggressively like you mean it or you'll get rounds "log jamming" in the action

Have that as well, this can fire a 300 grain bullet at near 2000 fps vs 170 grain in 30-30 around 2000 fps

That 45-70 sounds interesting, as their prices are so much better than Ruger
