I remember crossing to Fishguard in 1969 on the Duke of Rothesay from Rosslare, the sea turned into an old nasty swell sort of halfway across, I felt nauseated beyond belief and adults were splashing their stinking acid ridden guts onto the decks, horrifying, the joy at disembarking at Fishguard was unbelievable, they had to stow the stabilisers at some stage to avoid damaging them apparently, they announced this over the tannoy, very unusual to hear anything from the crew in them days, the sight and sound of the seasick victims was absolutely horrifying, disgusting, I was only nine and managed to escape the horror of spilling my burning guts onto the decks, I have been TERRIFIED of sea sickness ever since

Duke of Rothsay’s sister ship, Duke of Lancaster is on a beach in North Wales, still to be seen to this day, minus lifeboats.
