both my grand fathers fought at stalingrad, 7th pioneer regiment, 5th army, sergeant corps, and 2nd army, 2nd pioneer regiment, road opener. Hudea and Fodor, from Medias.

There was alot of fighting over the entire regional approach to Stalingrad. TIK channel here on KZbin has excellent videos on the subject. The Sixth Army was fairly well mauled and worn down before they arrived in the Stalingrad vicinity.

How many millions of German, Rumanian, and Russian families have no information on where their loved one died? How heartbreaking that sons, fathers, brothers, husbands, fiancées, school chums and childhood friends lived their lives and went to their graves knowing only that their soldier just never came home.

@FORMER K.G.B. Since I’m not German I can’t speak to their situation. But, as far as I know the Soviet people, the Soviet soldiers are blameless My honest opinion -in the eyes of the American people. The German people and soldiers may be seen as complicit by the Americans but... but with the current 2016-2020 situation in US politics I believe that point of view is changing very quickly “Americans know what happened in Germany in the 20’s - 40’s. If you were alive then what would you have done? You no longer have to wonder because you are doing it now!”

@FORMER K.G.B. I’m of the opinion there was only one World War. There was a break 1918- 1932 to give the war manufactures time to catch up, but that war lasted until 1955. And another brief break for an arms dealers convention. But every conflict in the 20th and 21st Century has a direct link to WW 1. Don’t fool yourself. and Russia should return Vipurii to Finland and Petsamo and other areas stolen by the criminal acts of the USSR. And reparations should be made to the Baltic countries. The Romanian army in their peak has over 1 million soldiers and was the main supplier of oil for the German, they won a lot of battles and captured many cities included ODESSA. Romanians were the most foreigners recipients of the Iron Cross. @@PolakInHolland well, Antonescu wanted to resist until the last man and the last bullet with or without german support but was backstabbed by the king Mihai. Mihai was a german itself, and didn't backstabbed the germans, but out leader Antonescu. He offered the opportunity to the germans to retreat their army without fight, but what happened next?
