Rostov is a district center of Yaroslavl region.

State Museum-reserve "Rostov Kremlin" was founded on October 28 (November 10), 1883, in the territory of the architectural ensemble of the former Bishop's house in Rostov (the Rostov Kremlin), which was formed as a result of construction activities, Metropolitan of Rostov and Yaroslavl Ions III (the Sysoyevich) in 1670-1680 years.
Assumption Cathedral is the former (until 1788), the Cathedral of Rostov and Yaroslavl diocese. Currently belongs to the Yaroslavl diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. Located on the Cathedral square of the Rostov Kremlin. Has a separate belfry. Together with the Bishop's courtyard, the buildings of which are built later (in the late XVII century) and the Metropolitan's garden, forms a single architectural ensemble of the Rostov Kremlin, is especially remarkable from lake Nero.
